I'll be buying this the day it comes out. I don't own any of the previous versions, and, the Book will look great next to my signed Evil Dead BoTD. I'm hoping for one for AoD...

MSRP is $39.99 but DDD has an Anchor Bay sale going on so it's available for $19.19.

Man for that price I'm definitely in, but I'm keeping the tin I think.

Got My Hands On A Copy

And you're all gonna hate this....
If you thought the Evil Dead Book Of THe Dead was stinky....
Just WAIT until you smell this one!
It is absolutely the most vile and chemically sickening smell ever.
Ugh.
You've all been warned.

I still haven't watched the special features yet, but the Movie looks very nice. I still need to compare it to the Tin version.

Oh, yeah... when you press the eye on the cover, it lets out a little scream.

Funny

THANKS!! How long is this sale going to last? I want to see if it's going to be on sale at Best Buy.

With a retail price of $39.99, I don't expect Best Buy to have this on sale for $19.99 the first week. More likely $24.99 - $27.99

It's part of the Anchor Bay sale that goes until 10/21/05.

Thanks for posting that. I like the inside of the book, but I don't know about the outside. Why did they make it purple and red of all things?

After seeing the pix & DDD's sale, I might have to go ahead & double dip. I still have my tin but can't decide whether to dump it or not. Any reason to keep it now?

i doubt very much we will hate this and it is simply like "new car" or more like "old car" smell. it will eventually wear off and look great next to Book 1!

Excandide, has AB improved the sleeve that the disc is in for this release? I remember my Book 1's disc has gotten scratched from sliding it in and out...

I'm not sure. I checked it about 20 min ago, and there are a bunch of long scratches going in the same direction, so I assumed it was from the sleeve.

I noticed this problem too. The sleeve design for Evil Dead 1 had a plastic top-flap that needed to be folded back to remove the disc. Since the sleeve was adhered to the hard-cover book and infexlible, you had to be really carful such that the top-flap didn't scratch against surface of the disc during removal.

Yes, the scratch issue is well known about the first BotD. I don't think that the scratches are deep enough to affect playback at all, no matter how many times it happens. But it's still annoying, so is this an issue with this DVD?

Cool! Wouldn't be BOTD without the smell.

How does it compare in size to the first? Any sign of being able to replace the battery on the screamer?

I'm definitely picking one up, maybe two.
