i think that both the Elite and the original picture disc AB versions are both out of print, but the Elite version is still readily available many places, and at a much cheaper price than what I paid for it when it first came out.

Only if you pack them in really tight. I don't pack the shelf that 'Evil Dead' is on as much as others, it's fine.

Those features look exactly the same as the old Limited Edition tin to me.

I'll wait until it comes in a normal case. I remember the Evil Dead Book version, the disc came in a sleeve that was glued in the book. Mine got scratched when I took it out of the case. No thanks.

I thought all 3 Dead movies were going to get the DiviMax treatment. Is this still happening?

I would gladly welcome this, to be able to display one of the best trilogies of our time all together would be glorious.

Yeah, I sold my tin a while back...can anyone tell us what the differences are with this release, besides the cool case? I really hope for an improved Divimax transfer...

It definitely sports a new DiviMax transfer. The DiviMax logo is on the AB spec page for the title, and the press release announced it.

Can't believe some of you are getting rid of the tins. I'll be getting this and keeping the tin.

Hmmm, I wonder if the battery can be replaced if you end up pressing the screaming eye too much?

I was thinking about getting rid of my Evil Dead: BotD, but now that he'll have a friend, I guess I'll be buying this, too.

Thanks to Dread Central again for providing this info about the extras:

Sam Raimi's Storyboards
A Very Dangerous Stunt
Farewell To Arms
Evil Ed's Lost Scene

Was any of this on the original EDII release? I Don't have access to my copy right now.

Looks like they're new.

Here are the features that were on the ED II limited edition tin:

Audio Commentary with Writer-Director Sam Raimi, Star Bruce Campbell, Co-Writer Scott Spiegel and Special Make-Up Effects Artist Greg Nicotero
Featurette: The Gore The Merrier
Theatrical Trailer
Evil Dead: Hail To The King Video Game Preview

Based on what has been revealed so far, the new features (if good) would justify one holding onto either the tin or the original Anchor Bay release.

2-Pack of the Dead

From DavisDVD:

Anchor Bay will be releasing an Evil Dead 1 & 2 Double Book Limited Edition Gift Set on November 22nd. I haven't been able to dig up any substantial details on this other than a retail of $69.98. Whether this will be just the two Necronomicon sets bundled together, or a third "Book of the Dead" sculpt made for the two films together I just don't know yet. Either way, thanks to Nicholas for the heads-up.
