It's OOP. Has been for quite some time now. Both it and the sequel came out in Japan as superbits and sold for quite a lot of money. I believe they were at least $100 together.

It would been nice if they added DTS but the beautiful transfers are enough though

I paid $40 ea about 4 months ago, and now I'm very sorry I did.

The new releases look really sharp. Time for me to dump my current versions and upgrade.

I have also updated the Ghostbusters 2 image post above with comparison shots from the old UK region 2 release.

Wow! This transfer looks really nice. It's too bad we can't see a comparison with the old R1 release, but I'm betting the new transfers are still better. The colors of the particle beams...wow! I just might have to get this. Plus, it has Citizen Ghost, which I'm happy about. Why they had to put Partners in Slime on there is anybody's guess.

I'll be picking this up for the transfers alone. Nice price.

It's also gonna be $12.99 at Best Buy next week.

I might've double-dipped had they included full-screen versions, but I see no real reason to at this point. These movies were meant to fill up your screen.

I never got around to picking up "Ghostbusters 2", so I figure this'll be the perfect way to get it. I'm assuming by the sounds of it though that I should keep my "Ghostbusters" DVD though?

Are those your pictures? If so, do you mind if I include them in my upcoming review of the boxed set? I don't own either previous disc and probably won't be able to get 'em by the time the screeners arrive.

the old R1 pics are mine, and yes you're welcome to use them. The new release pics I got from earlier in the thread.

That's quite a difference in those screenshots - is the movie supposed to be that bright?

Yea, I'm wondering too why the movie looks so much brighter now. But then again, I always thought the contract was way way too low on the first release...

Oh well. The colors seem to come out better this time tho.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be able to use them. They'll probably be common knowledge by the time I publish the review, but it's best to be as thorough as possible. You guys are picky!

Right, can everyone who's posted screen grabs so far to delete them, just so we can keep this thread browsing-friendly for those unfortunate to have lesser internet connections? Thanks.

The following are all the grabs I've managed to obtain personally, and from the 'nets 3 main DVD forums:

Ghostbusters:

Ghostbusters II

In some of those, the old R1 looks better...
