Thanks folks. I was all GEEK'ed about getting to "Best Buy" tonight and now I'm going to hold off. I mainly checked in today to find out if the BB version transfer is any good (the transfer on the MINI was "like suck"). Hey! Maybe the MINI's transfer will be fixed in the U.S. version!

To "Heartagram" -- I am finding this series to be incredibly good. If they can keep the quality up for another year or two it will join "B5" and "Original Trek" as one of the points on the crown.

i thought this was the official one with all the extas etc. and sadly it isnt, it sucks they do this, i didnt realize they do this stuff like this, but anyway the picture quality seemed pretty good. the menus suck, only extras are deleted scenes, and a bonus dvd for serenity which is a pretty good bonus. but, sucks cause i was all excited when i seen it in best buys ad. i thought this was the offical one. anyway i still will buy the official one

Okay, since the BB exclusive came out today, can anyone confirm if it's lacking the extras of the upcoming R1 set?

If you can parse the post above yours that sounds like a confirmation

I bought it just for the Serenity bonus disc (I've never seen BSG) but it looks like the only extras are deleted scenes according to the box.

I've already pre-ordered the official R1 version (with all the extras) from Amazon, so I'm not even remotely interested in this exclusive UK set. The question is will the official set contain the "Lowdown" special for the mini-series as well, or just the one for the series itself...as well as the deleted scenes from the mini-series?

I'm definitely holding out for the full set later, but what's with this Serenity disc? Is it in the package or a glue on type that could possibly show up used or on ebay?

What version of the opening is on the Best Buy release? I liked the fast paced theme that they showed here in Canada. I will be buying the official R1 version in a couple months but I am guessing it will probably have the slower theme.

the Serenity disc is about 10-12 minutes long. Some short new footage of the movie, a little making of featurette, and a featurette about the fans etc. its a pretty good disc but short. I was bummed there was no trailer

The Serenity disc comes in a white sleeve slipped into a cutout pocket on the left inside flap of the foldout case, so if you didn't know it was there to begin with, you'd probably just wonder if there was supposed to be an insert or something. The content is just short of 13 minutes.

Quick Question. I love the War Drum opening. Is that on the R1 release coming up or is that on the R2 transfer release that Best Buy has?

I certainly don't have anything official, but if they base it on the broadcast: the Best Buy one should have the UK opening that we're now getting during the current second season. The official Season 1 release in a few weeks should have the War Drum opening.

Yep, it was. That's why I usually give my posts a quick read through before posting, or as I type them if they're long, to make sure they make sense grammatically and logically.

You might also wanna work on your capitalization too.

I was at Best Buy and saw this set. I gotta say, the cover is badass and it has peaked my interest in this series. I am moving into a new apartment this week and will have cable for the first time in a year and a half, so I think I am going to check it out. Now, I don't really like shows like Star Trek, etc. but this being a revamp perhaps I will. Can someone describe the tone/feel of the show (I think I heard of it being pretty dark and serious). Anyway, thanks for the help.

The new version is probably more of a dramatic suspense thriller than the old one was. The old one was just your typical '70s sci-fi space camp adventure. In the new one, you actually feel the dire straights the colonists are in as they flee the Cylon threat. The new Cylons aren't the push-overs they were in the original. With Cylons now able to be human clones, if you will, as well as the 'metal toasters' they once were (but meaner) the threat to the humans is greater.

IMO, I wished the series was just a little bit more like the original, in terms of space adventures. Not enough space battles in this new version yet. But hopefully, in the second season, that'll pick up once all the crew members that were separated from the fleet in the first season cliff hanger get back together.

Yep, I also wish there was a "little" more battles but other than that I love the show.

So Mike (and all), is it a good idea for us to sell our Mini-series sets? Will the COMMENTARY, DELETED SCENES & MAKING OF FEATURETTE that is on it be on the complete R1 set as well? If not, I may consider the dreded double-dip but if otherwise, I'd rather sell it.
