anyone else really hate the old school gun sounds in the original batman, i was watching this on tcm last night, and some of them are really dated sounding. also, i noticed a bunch of flashes during the fight after the musium scene, i doubt Vicky took that many photos, possible edits maybe to tone down the fights?

Cameron 07-30-05 10:41 PM

so no word on who the guest will be on the new commentary burton recorded for the first movie

Fincher Fan 07-31-05 03:57 AM

I'm going to watch Batman & Robin with the commentary on. Probably funnier than the movie!

I didn't see it when Turner Classics aired it, but I don't believe they would edit anything for easier consumption. I greatly appreciate them because they broadcast movies in their original theatrical versions. Uncut, unedited, OAR intact.

In any event the fight between Batman and The Joker's goons is simply not intense enough to warrant any cuts. The scene airs on commercial television unedited.

Maybe if these box sets or single releases (minus Forever) of the original bat-flicks sell well, it will convince Warner to invest some money into getting a director's cut of Forever. I'd gladly welcome this Double Dip.

well, mabye back in 89 that was consitered intense. also, these "flashes" have been in every version of the film that i have seen.

jmj713 08-01-05 04:38 PM

Hopefully as an easter egg they'll include the '89 Diet Coke commercial.

ReduxGuy 08-01-05 05:54 PM

Also, I hope the US ones feature ALL of the trailers because, IMO, the teaser trailers for the films were better than the actual trailers.

ReduxGuy 08-01-05 06:07 PM

Box art is not currently available for the titles, but stay tuned to IGN DVD for the latest news on these and other forthcoming releases!"

Nitpicking aside, this looks pretty damn good. I'm hoping that the "documentary galleries" are actually featurettes and not art and photo galleries, or something, but looking at the titles, I can only imagine that they'll be featurettes.

I'm excited!

(I'm slightly disappointed about the lack of deleted scenes for the first two films and no U2 video, but otherwise, it still looks good...and, of course, not even The Matrix movies got DTS from Warner, so...wow.)

jmj713 08-01-05 07:37 PM

Hold on here... Warner Bros. is actually using DTS???? I'm shocked! But good shocked...

Mondo Kane 08-01-05 07:39 PM

Wasn't "Bat,Cat,Penguin" a CBS special?

* Legends of the Dark Knight: The History of Batman, which follows the comic book series through seven decades of changes and re-inventions
Worth my purchase, right there!

RyoHazuki 08-01-05 07:39 PM

So no extended cut of Forever. That sucks.

ReduxGuy 08-01-05 07:59 PM

DTS?!?!?!?!?!? DTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a wet dream come true!!! Except I was hoping for 5.1 EX and DTS-ES mixes.

So, no Sean Young footage?

reubs82 08-01-05 08:16 PM

Cover art should be here soon...I'm excited! THanks for all of the info.

Yep. Hosted by Robert Urich. Still have that on tape.

I remember different trailers for Batman. One really stuck with me. But I think they were actually TV spots. So I'm a little disappointed that they didn't include those on the Batman disc. But no big deal. Each of us has something we wished was there. Can't include everything. This is going to be a kick-ass set.
