Forever was originally Keaton as Batman, Robin Williams as Riddler, and Rene Russo as Chase Meridian (and probably Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face), although I don't know if Russo would've fared as well as Nicole Kidman when it came to wearing the bedsheet and nothing else. :)

The lack of an extended cut on Forever, plus the missing U2 video and teasers for Forever and Crapman & Robin(which was a dreadful preview but should be on there for completist's sake) are a disappointment. Otherwise, this is a nice looking set. And I still can't believe we're getting DTS. Please God let there be DTS on Batman Begins.

maybe rights reasons for no u2 video?

Probably. As I said in another thread, U2 is on Island and I'm not sure if that's a subsidiary of any major label. Odd because that video is found on their "best of" set.

But U2 are affiliated with Island, which have nothing to do with Warner. It was probably a special arrangement that they did the video/song in the first place. Therefore, it's not shocking for it to be absent from this set.

But speaking of music videos, I'm really looking forward to the Siouxsie and the Banshees video...I know the song so well, but have never seen the video.

Hopefully they officially announce everything tomorrow, complete with cover art (and here's hoping they use the respective bat signals).

Were there any scenes deleted from Burton's films?

Yep. Again, there were pictures from the original releases. There are always deleted scenes.

I just read those exact words in the thread at the HTF. ;)

DTS on Warner Batman titles....... Must be a little chilly down below.

I couldn't see any listed on IMDB. Anybody know what they are offhand?

Hmm...there are 3 that i can think of offhand: 2 of which happen during the alley fight. One is that a little girl is in the garbage watching the fight happen. The other is that Batman actually has a fight with Bob (instead of Bob just dropping the knife). The third is an extension (from what I've heard): After "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" They cut back to the Joker and he says "well don't just stand there! Go and ask him!"
Apparently that was in the original trailer (rumor has it) but I don't remember it.

i'd see if the scripts are online anywhere and take it from there. Who knows? Maybe we'll get some deleted clips in the documentaries.

Oh Lord, please hear my prayer....Oh heavenly father, let there be a DTS track on the new Batman Begins DVD....It would be pleasant to thine ears and bring praise to thy name...In Jesus name, Amen.

Big Worms 08-02-05 09:19 AM

Holly shit. DTS! Wow! Good thing I held out for this set.

fumanstan 08-02-05 09:52 AM

Can't wait

LorenzoL 08-02-05 09:56 AM

As good of a DVD set as you can hope for. Another  from me.

Thanks! Sounds like there's more extended scenes than anything. Hopefully they'll be on the disc somewhere unless WB is saving them for a potential triple-dip for when "Batman Begins... Again" comes out.

It's a shame Batman Forever isn't getting the extended cut. I was anxious to see that.

Crow331 08-02-05 01:52 PM

DTS news is awesome! I had originally planned on picking up the box set, if only to be a completist, but after seeing Batman Begins over the weekend, which IS the definitive Batman, I am only going to pick up the first Tim Burton Batman now. I would of rented FOREVER if there was an extended cut, but now I see no real reason to own anything but the first one.

I think its funny that Batman Begins is actually stopping people from buying these...I feel the same way though....I will pick up the first Batman (mainly for the Jack performance), but thats it....I would have purchased Batman Returns and possibly Batman Forever, but after seeing Batman Begins, forget those pieces of sh|t.

Christian Bale IS Batman.

Skoobooz 08-02-05 02:23 PM

Could a mod change the thread title to the appropriate date?

canaryfarmer 08-02-05 02:29 PM

I think the only one I'll buy right away will be Batman Returns. I love that film, and I just saw Batman on TMC the other night (oar and they left the profanity in as well). I'll probably pick up Forever when I see it at the local used DVD store. It'll show up soon enough, I'm sure.
