Thanks for the review. Reads more like a show review than an actual dvd review though.
So now the question begs, who is going to have the best deal?

I personally don't care what kind of deal I'll get. I'd pay $39.99, $49.99, $59.99. I'm going to best buy early tuesday morning.
I can't beleive it's coming out next week, this moment came sooner that I thought. I remember first reading this announcement. Oh man, I kcan't wait. I've only ever seen some of the more popular ones put on VHS and some reruns on TV. I just know there are dozens of episodes I've never seen before. This is going to be heaven. Kermit here I come!

Some bad news:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=147486
CORRECTION: MUPPET SHOW SEASON ONE HAS EDITS
I'm ashamed to say I missed this the first time.
Episode 3: Joel Grey:
Sketch: "Muppet Newsflash"
Song: "Stormy Weather", Wayne & Wanda-w/comments from Statler & Waldorf
There's actually a bit added compared to the original listing I have - a small bit between Gonzo, Joel, with guest spot by a Banana.
Episode 6: Jim Nabors
Song: "Gone With The Wind", Jim-w/comments from Statler & Waldorf
"The Danceros" -A four legged dancing creature
Strange Sketch Order in 2nd Quarter of Show
Episode 8: Paul Williams:
Song: All of Me
Episode 9: Charles Aznavour
Song: "The Old Fashioned Way", Charles-w/comments from Statler & Waldorf
Episode 19: Vincent Price
Song: "Youve Got A Friend", Vincent & The Monster
I don't have the resources to see if any specific lines were cut out of any scenes (doubtful), almost all edits are music edits). Pitchfilm MAY have had a line cut out - it's possible, but I didn't notice anything condusive to an edit.
Original Pilot (Sex and Violence) runs 25:22, so I doubt it's edited. Pitchfilm is 2:51...

Does that mean those songs have been left out completely?
That's pretty disappointing if true, especially the Vincent Price one, to me and I'm sure many others.

If all those songs are cut, that sucks. It's disappointing when actors or estates of late actors get greedy or don't allow things from the past to get released on DVD.

I assumed it would be $29.99 at BB (well because I checked bestbuy.com). .
But what is all this about all this missing stuff? I'm still gonna get it, but it really sounds like the Muppet Show really got hacked and slashed badly.

Here is the link of the DVD set review by Ultimatedisney.com:

They are confirming that the season one set is indeed edited and missing some musical numbers and some Muppet newsflash segments.

Either way, how long until some thoughtful individual tosses all the cut stuff up on-line so it can be downloaded by those of us who are anal completists?

Since this show hasn't been on TV for so long, it's kind of hard to know which seasons were the best. I'm not a completist. I like to selectively buy my favorite seasons. So this list of guests comes in handy for picking what seasons to get. I think season 2 had the best actors/comedians, and season 5 had the best singers, so I plan to get those two seasons. I really, really hope they don't edit the Debbie Harry or Linda Ronstadt episodes.

I'm very conflicted about whether to buy this set or not.
I was too young to watch this show when it originally aired however, I was able to watch the show in reruns during the 80's. I absolutely loved this show. My parents even bought me a Muppets Show lunch box and later we decided to name our family dog Scooter (Skeeter was the other option if it was a girl dog). This show bring so many wonderful childhood memories for me.
I'm usually against buying edited or syndicated releases of TV shows but I'm leaning towards going against this preset standards and purchasing this set.

I'm skipping Rosanne and The Cosby Show because of the edits. But those are just TV shows. The Muppet Show is a way of life!
