wow $35? It would make better sense to just buy the re-boxed versions and sell those off on ebay or trade them away and just keep the box

Well, the difference is that Paul Champagne cases are anodized aluminum.

how heavy are the statues, typically? Can it be used as a bookend, or is it too light? I didn't get the gift sets for the first two but this one looks kind of sweet.

I've held off buying any LOTR discs in anticipation of an EE boxset. I don't give a flip about the box itself, and since there seems to be a demand for it, I'll probably be one of those who sells it on eBay.

From what I have heard it will be the original EEs just given an extra box around them. No additional extras to the films, just like the standard editions were boxed up. ;p Yes, I'm sure some people will go for the extra money and sell their boxes on ebay.

I'd get the box seperatly if it's the thick, heavy-duty, embossed kind the EE's have.

I like the way they look just sitting next to each other on my shelf, so I have no need for a box.

Has anyone here ever purchased a box from the Paul Chanpagne guy? Quality impressions, etc.?

Not bad. Of course we will have to wait and see what they do with the current people that already own the first two.

I bought the Jersey Trilogy one. Pretty sweet. If you have money to spare I'd say go for it. Otherwise for the prices, I'd skip it, it is just a box.

Personally, I don't see the point, but it seems to me that the studio might make the box available to anyone who's purchased the three EEs separately. And it would make sense to provide it for a nominal shipping/handling fee, seeing how they've already got your money for the DVDs.

If nothing else, I would wait a little while (for them to get enough inquiries and come up with a plan), then e-mail the studio and ask if it's possible to get the box. I find it hard to believe they won't find some way of accommodating you.
