I didn't purchase any of those.

I wasn't trying to hijack the thread either... I'll probably end up with the Star Wars flicks on DVD as well. My surprise was just that so many people on the internet seemed so enthusiastic about buying them, when the general perception of the commoner is that the internet community as a whole would be more inclined NOT to buy these discs, as they aren't the originals.

I won't be anywhere at midnight to buy them, but I'll end up owning them. It's all we get, and I guess I'll take it.

I guarantee you most of those pissing about not buying them will be some of the first in line. No doubt. After all these reviews come out saying how great they look, how awesome they sound. Dont forget the extras btw. How is someone with a crappy malasian copy or a decent LD copy gonna withstand that temptation. Wont happen!!!

What are you guys going to do with the DVDs at midnight? Are you honestly going to stay up all night watching them? I honestly wont find the time until the weekend after. Just curious.

Tell me about it. It must be nice to be young and not have a care in the world.

To what? Stand around some more after purchasing them? Or to watch while driving home? Stay away from my road!

I seriously need to get a burner before my OT LDs rot. I'll get the SE on DVD since I could never bring myself to pay for CLV LDs.

That is what VACATION TIME is for! I have a total of 5 weeks at my job... I'm taking the 21st and 22nd off. I will have them at midnight and then enjoy them for 2 days!

Ya know, I believe there might be a few places around the state that might be selling 'em

Seriously, you should hook up with a fellow DVDTalker to go stand in line with... or go watch the movies with while out here.

I really don't think the "commoner" spends any time thinking about what the "internet community" is more inclined to buy.
The ironic thing is that the latter almost always seem to think that they represent the former.

If you must know... YES! After all, I will be watching each one film-only. Then, I will watch each with commentary track. Then, I will watch Empire of Dreams. Then, I will watch the rest of the extras DVD. Then, I will probably go back and watch one or two of the films again. It will be total, sweet, jubilant emersion in Star Wars in glorious anamorphic widescreen on my TheaterWide HDTV with Dolby Digital 5.1 for the balance of 2 days! My wife will be right there with me, too...

Besides, of the 5 weeks of vacation that I have, I have only used 2 days. Gotta use em or lose em....

That's the spirit right there. I'm only taking the 21st off though.

I was thinking about tearing off the shrink wrap in the checkout line and watching there

Seriously though, my LD player just died (again) and I am not sure I am going to replace it. I got alot of enjoyment out of my TX box set of original LD's.

My local mom&pop video store told me that I can buy my StarWars set from them one week before it's street date (along with 25% off retail) - wohoo!

This is, by far, the absolute greatest and most realistic post I have ever read on this forum.

Well I went to midnight showings the first night of all three of the lord of the rings movies. Also went to midnight shows of Ep1 and Ep2. And went to work the next day no problem.

By the time you got the discs and got home, and watched star wars it would be what, 2:45 - 3:00.

They will probably stay up to watch them.

I just hope Amazon ships out the dvds a little earlier so that we can get them on release day or the day after.
