Actually I hope there's something like that in there. I always felt that a scene like that would help and fill in the gap between the shot of the AT-AT gunning down fleeing Rebel soldiers and then taking out the shield generator to when we hear "Imperial troops have entered the base." A gunfight, even a short one, as the troops are fighting their way into the base would be a nice little addition.

Also consider the exchange between Luke and Vader when Luke turns himself in. Luke says "There is conflict in you father I can feel it". That suggests the old Anakin is still buried somewhere within him. So if it's just a matter of bringing it to the surface, then his "true self" would have still existed in his current form and would have been the projection of the old man standing beside Yoda.

Anyone else read the article on the DVDTalk main page re: the forthcoming DVD editions, such as on HD-DVD? Perhaps this will be those rumored "archival" editions. My hope, as a fan number one, but as a person who respects continuity number two, is that all the discrepancies from TPM through ROTJ will be dealt with. Lucas' creativity in making R2D2 be Leia's mom's droid, C3P0 being built by Anakin and owned by the Lars for a time, Obi-Wan "owning" a droid, etc. etc. created way too many issues in my mind. While it's fun to see where they all come from, it annoys me to no end that they all had to be related to each other somehow - it makes the vast Star Wars galaxy seem so small.
