And if they do? Pardon the language but so fucking what? Does it affect YOUR viewing of the movies any? I just fail to see the point of this constant jab at the "fanboys" for liking the changes.

But will this concept -- which to me seems full of holes -- be explained in Episode III? If not, the ending will make no sense at all to anyone who hasn't read a novelization or newsgroup posting.

And, you'd have to work pretty hard to convince me that the Anakin who asks for his mask to be removed and says to Luke "You were right" was in any way unpure or tainted. I thought the ENTIRE point of all 6 films was that he was saved through his son.

Anakin defeated Palpatine in RotJ. Anakin did it. Luke would have been toast without him. He's the one that provides "balance" to the Force. I thought that's what we were leading up to through this whole process.

(Again, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Episode III will make all of this crystal clear. Somehow I doubt it though...)

be explained in Episode III?
Yes, it will!

It is, and nothing about inserting Hayden into ROTJ changes that. One has nothing to do with the other. He's still Anakin. Anakin was redeemed through his son. That doesn't change no matter who is Anakin.

Anakin dies in Episode III, and this will be explained in the film.

Sorry if that came of as directed towards you alone. And I know the caps don't really help it. It was more of a general rant to those who feel that they have to include snide remakrs towards the other side with every Star Wars thread they post in.

Well Superman I'm a moderate fan. I'm not going to bash the films, I do like them. But I will post my opinions. My post before was just explaining that whatever GL does, even if it doesn’t make sense, the superfans will come up with a story so it does make sense. That whole “certain point of view” crap.

Well, I look forward to seeing that.

As I said, it's hard to judge this fully with a BIG piece missing (Revenge of the Sith). But, I'll stand by my opinion that this'll likely be explained inadequately in the film. Feel free to reference this post in May if I'm wrong.

At this rate they should just end the film with Lucas comming out, sitting down in front of the camera, and reading a 10 page explanation of all the things in the OT and PT that don't gel. Either that or a shot of him rolling around a bed full of money naked and laughing. Either one would be as entertaining as the first two films.

I've seen the Empire Strikes Back disc and the changes are indeed real for the Emperor. That is the only real change I noted in the movie. Everything else seems in tact from the 97 SEs, which amazed me. There is some stuff that really looks inferior on this new transfer that could have been touched up digitally and been a cosmetic improvement. I guess Lucas was too concerned about the Emperor to worry about the stuff that should have been changed that wouldn't have cause an uproar.

I hadn't gotten to that point yet. Everything else, visually, seems to be intact. I think I would have been happier with full blown changed director's cut here instead of mere changes here and there. Like I said, there are a lot of cosmetic things that could have been changed, or enhanced, to make this look better for the current format without pissing anybody off.

I was hoping some of the 'mistakes' would be fixed such as the crewman's leg sticking out on the Blockade Runner (the shot of the stormtroopers looking for Leia)

Also the see-thru shot of R2's porthole on the sandcraweler. Stuff like that.

Can anyone confirm if those are still in there?

Didn't even know about the first one and honestly, the 2nd one I just found out this year. But anyway, dunno about the first but I think I read somewhere the 2nd one's been fixed.

From page 10:

The battle of Hoth is enhanced with a ground battle between the Rebel soldiers and stormtroopers
This is the first I've heard of this... and I've been following the rumored/confirmed changes pretty closely. Is the reviewer baked?

And the Episode III era Anakin wasn't tainted? Dude had already slaughtered an entire Tusken village. I wouldn't say he was the purest of Jedi Knights. This change introduces way too many plotholes, regardless of how much explaining Episode III does.

That was in the list of rumored changes that someone posted awhile back. First I've seen it confirmed.

I believe he is, because I had the DVD rip of ESB up until yesterday when I deleted it. I noticed nothing new in the Hoth battle except matte lines removed and the transparency in the snow speeder cockpit has been fixed.

I saw a little clip of this new scene today online. We've all seen the screen grabs and those appear okay to post, but is it okay for me to post a link to the 22 second clip? I'm sure some of you would be interested in seeing it.

Someone posted a link to the new vader/palpatine footage in empire in another thread, so i don't see why not.

I'm really excited about this set. I guess I'm sort of a fanboy, but I don't believe that Lucas walks on water or anything. I was of the mindset that a lot of the changes in the SE's were cool, but some of them sucked ass.

Having said that, I'm SO glad that a few new things are going to be in there, like fixing the Jabba scene and Greedo scene in ANH and taking out the scream in ESB. Those were definitely my biggest gripes about the SE's. It would have been better if Han still shot first, but at least fixing the scene so it doesn't look like shit is a step. I am going to lock the doors, pull down the shades, and immerse myself in the Star Wars Universe on 9/21. Can't wait.
