Yes and no.... While the Columbia/Tri-Star release is OOP, the Home Vision Special Edition was just released last month.

I've always kind of wanted this one. Found it tonight at Half Price books for 9.98 and decided to finally grab it since eBay and Amazon prices are going up.

You can also lower the price of WWF Attitude: Best of Wrestlemania 1-14. It's barely bringing in $20 now. I thought I'd gotten a great deal this afternoon buying it for $12 but it's not so great now. Off to the exchange forum I go with it.

Howard's End can be removed I think. With the new release out, I have seen prices for the old release fall back into line with what they should be.

You ever slip and fall, and yell out in surprise? That's the sound you make.

Just kidding, it means out of print.

NCYankee what does a spine number have to do with anything? Help me out here! IS the lower number the one with the scene in it? Of course...the common one the bigger number...LOL

FYI, I got 74 bucks for Wuthering Heights, if you want to add that as a price reference point.

The number on the spine is the way to tell the rare version and the common version apart. The rare version, which has the scenes, is "15090". It's not the number printed, it's just a five digit number on the spine.

Some added - I think I'll leave Howard's End there, it is still getting $18 on Amazon since the newer version is a little pricey (minimum $22).

So I haven't gotten any feedback on starting a Disney list - how about rare VHS tapes? Tonight I picked up a sealed copy of Double Indemnity for $1 at a pawn shop, on the off chance it might be worth something (the DVD is) - turns out the lowest price on half or Amazon was $40 for a sealed copy. (Also got Top Hat for $1, turns out to be a little valuable also).

Why is the Kevin James DVD going for so much? I was seeing them on a regular basis not too long ago.

It will be great to have a similar list for Disney's oop. Here is a list that might help you:

Yeah - that's a great place to start, but I would prefer that people tell me of Disneys they know which are going for substantially more than their original price - I sure don't have the time to research everything on that list.

A good example would be the Toy Story 2-pack, which can be gotten at Gamestop for $26, and go for over $70 at Amazon. Or Peter Pan SE, which was going sealed for $60+ last I checked.

I would say double MSRP for sealed, or double what might be normal used prices, would be a good place to start.

Demand for Matinee and Bride of Re-Animator may have dropped off... many of them aren't even selling on Ebay now... and the ones that do don't go much higher than $20.

I see that Twelve Chairs is still fetching $100 though... looks like I'll be selling mine.

I recently saw "The Abyss: Special Edition" in the double keepcase, is that worth anything?

Matinee and Bride are still going for good money on Amazon (except for the occasional lowball seller), though Bride prices have pulled back and I changed them on the list.

The OOP double-keepcase Abyss is not really worth anything since the newer one in the white double-digipack is identical - but pricey, hard to get used under $16 or new under $20, so if you can get it cheaply it is a decent find (I got the digipack in mint condition at a pawn shop for $6).

Just put my Twelve Chairs up on Ebay, and while I searched through the ending prices of other OOP DVDs there, I found some others going for $50-$60:

They Might Be Giants (Anchor Bay; George C. Scott)
Short 5 (Vin Diesel)
The Funeral (Pioneer; Christopher Walken)
The Ipcress File (Anchor Bay)

God bless this thread -- here's what I was able to pick up for peanuts this weekend from Newbury Comics & Gamestop:

A Shot in the Dark
Best of the Blues Brothers, The
Big Trouble in Little China (2 copies)
Great Muppet Caper, The
Joe Gould's Secret (new!)
Last Days of Disco, The
Mrs. Doubtfire
Peter Pan (Goodtimes Video)
Return of the Pink Panther

I also snagged several OOP Criterions. Passed on several copies of The Rocky Horror 2-disc and a copy of the Blues Brothers CE. I literally found this thread Friday afternoon and was shocked how lucky I was by checking out a couple local stores.

I'm hooked now and did a search on Ebay/Amazon and here are some more titles that might be worth adding to the list (prices are a mix from Amazon/Ebay and should only be considered as rough estimates of current value!):

Alice Sweet Alice $40 / $50
Backdraft $20 / $23
Battle Angel $150 / $400
Frighteners, The $22 / $45
Great Waldo Pepper, The $45 / $55
Lady and the Tramp $30 / $40
Lady in White $30 / $50
Mallrats $28 / $35
Maniac (LE tin ) $55 / $85
Meet Joe Black UE $30 / $30
My So Called Life Boxset $150 / $200
Panther (Mario Van Peebles) $150 / $200
Parenthood $22 / $32
Phantasm $22 / $32
Sleuth $50 / $70
Supergirl 2-disc LE $30 / $45
Trilogy of Terror $100 / $300
War of the Worlds $40 / $40

Might want to add Image's American Cinema set to this list. The only thing listed on Amazon is the VHS set for over $200, and the one seller on Ebay wants $500+ for it.

Just picked up the HBO Home Video version of The Best Years of Our Lives - cheapest at amazon is 99.95. What a steal @ 17.99 from FYE.

No, it wasn't a steal. That movie was re-released by MGM:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd . The HBO version is OOP but is listed so high because some wishful thinking sellers listed it that way. The HBO or the MGM version don't sell for more than $15.

Where do you see the HBO version selling at all? I might as well return it if it's not a good deal. I noticed that the HBO version has special features not present on the MGM version.

Why the heck is the nothing movie Split Second going for such a premium? Amazon sellers want at least $150 and copies on Ebay are going for $150-$200. It's a NOTHING movie!
