Manage to find a copy of The Spanish Prisoner for $20.00.

I happened to stumble by Amazon.ca where itīs priced at CAD 103.31!!! Wow! I guess this particular title very well could be worth a lot in the future. Itīs must be very rare, huh?

As far as I can tell that only recently went OOP. In my experience, titles often spike early and then peter down in price after a few months. If it's really rare it will go up, but if demand goes down, so could the price.

Do any of you know how much a brand new sealed copy of My Dinner With Andre might go for on eBay? All I see are used ones, and those are at $100+ already.

I saw Jarhead 2 Disc at Circuit City the other day. Isn't that super-rare?

I also found several copies of some Disney Treasures for $25. Like Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 2.

Looks to be fairly rare - used copies starting at $25, new for $46 on Amazon (not including one for $17 w/o slipcover.)

I just noticed yesterday my OOP copy of Roots (the miniseries) is now going for upwards of $115 - I picked it up last yeat at Gamestop for $30 at buy 2 get 1 free.

I just sold a copy of Outside Providence on Amazon marketplace for $32. Pretty good since I got it as a free choice in a Buy 2 for $7.99 Get One Free deal a couple of years ago. Couldn't even find it listed on Ebay.

Just noticed after reading a movie review and deciding it sounds like one I would want to see - Sleuth with Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier is going for upwards of $70.

Edit - Oops, I see Bill Geiger had already mentioned this one - but I thought I would revisit it anyway because it sounds like a great film.

Nice find tonight - not a big fan of John Waters, but instinctively snagged his #2 collection (Hairspray / Pecker) for $4 at a pawn shop - going for upwards of $26 on Amazon. The other two are also bringing good money.

Recently found a copy of 1984 at my local Circuit City for only 9.99. Checked a few other local Circuit City's, no luck. But I sure did feel lucky when I found my copy.

Was in the used CD/DVD store tonight and found a complete mint box set of The Origins of Film priced at $19.99. This was one of those titles I wanted, but never expected to find unless I paid $100 on ebay.

Nice to see this thread resurrected. So sorry for this late reply, but may I suggest one of my techniques: keep a wishlist on Amazon solely of DVDs you own and that which you may consider not wanting to keep. You will then easily be able to reference marketplace prices by looking at that list.

As for any up-dates:

I did sell my Clockwork Orange DVD for about $40 in anticipation for the 2-DVD reissue, which Warner promised in the last HTF forum chat. I also have made a wishlist of all my Kubrick DVDs on Amazon to see if any of the other DVDs are going up in value. Speaking of, Lolita looks like it is going up in value. But, I'm not sure when it's slated for re-release. 2001 - A Space Odyssey is also getting more scarce. That was also supposed to get the 2-DVD reissue treatment.

As for a few other once popular DVDs that have gone OOP and up in value since this thread was last up-dated, which I have noticed:

Watership Down
The Burning Bed
Criterion's Tokyo Olympiad (though you will be hard pressed to find this at a B&M store or in used DVD sections)
Disney's Lion King DVDs are slowly rising in value on the secondary market.
If you still have the OOP Razorlight release of Raise the Red Lantern, sell it while it's worth something because MGM has a better quailty reissue coming out for its World Films series.
Speaking of MGM and World Films, Madame Bovary quickly went OOP and up in price.

I don't know what else, but there should be lots of up-dates. Anything else from anyone else? I for one, had no idea about The Origins of Film DVD set mentioned just recently mentioned.

I have Watership Down and Tokyo Olympiad among many titles that are out of print, but I just can't part with them.

You definitely have to add the Classic Sci-fi Ultimate collection to the out of print bonanza. That set went from unwanted on Best Buy shelves to one of the most sought after out of print titles.

One auction of the "A Muppet Family Christmas" is going for $100 with 4 days to go. What's the draw of this DVD besides being a Muppet special?

Yellow Submarine has finally come up in price again. Last year, a ton of those flooded the market, driving the price down below retail. It's back up to around $50 again.

Schindler's List Deluxe Edition (Gift Set) - UPC#:025192423628

Is this really rare? It seems in Amazon its listed for $119?

As far as I know, the only rare one about this is the - non Cracked Giftset?

Here is another one.

Was it because it was printed as Roger Corman's Collection even if its NOT, makes it a rare dvd now?

It's quite a nice set. They were selling these here in Mississauga at an HMV for $16 bucks. I picked one up, and they had tons of them, but I don't know how rare the set is.
