Here's one I just found used and was surprised at how high it was being listed for:
A Taxing Woman (Japan - 1988)
Fox Lorber, released 1999
Half: 1 listing, 99.95 'brand new'
Amazon: 1 listing, $129.95 'like new' (which is un-sealed it sounds like)

Are you sure it's Judgment Day? Amazon shows WWF Royal Rumble 2002, and except for one guy selling it for $20, they are all $50.
OTOH, they show Judgment Day 2001 but there are new copies sellling for $25. They don't show a Judgment Day 2002.
Edit: But I guess if it was a WWF exclusive, they wouldn't list it, would they?
I see now that they have one of each (RR, JD, etc) per year - I thought after looking at the Amazon listings there was a different name each year.
There sure are a lot of those wrestling DVDs.

Positive it's Judgment Day - I know there are other valuable PPV's here and there, but that one is the most expensive. Check completed auctions on ebay for the R1's - they are very expensive and hard to come by.

I think Clownhouse should be taken out of the list since is not reaching even $10 on ebay. Why did this movie stop being so valuable through ebay or amazon? Did it get re-released? I remember people bidding $200 - $300 for this DVD.

It was about to be re-released, and then they cancelled it (many people say to avoid the boycotts). Thing is, every store I've been to had it anyway, even though the release was officially cancelled and recalled. Anyway, the market pretty much got flooded, anybody who wanted it was able to get it.

I am considering starting two more (shorter) lists - one for Disney and one for Criterions - only really rare ones that are worth at least twice their original retail. I have had some luck selling Disneys on amazon lately - got two used Toy Story 2-packs at Gamestop for $25 each, sold them for $72 and $75 on Amazon. Also a sealed Peter Pan SE at Blockbuster for $25, sold for $70 next day.
Feel free to kick some more my way.

is there a way to search for a DVD on DVDs123.com to see how much they are buying it for? thanks.
ok, i figured out how to search. how could they only pay $20.20 for "The Killer" Criterion Collection?? that don't make no sense...

They don't pay well for most Criterions - usually only abotu 25% of what they sell for. The only time they pay really well are for really rare DVDs such as MST:3K which they were paying $114 for at one time, or The Blues Brothers for which they were paying $55 until I sent them 3 copies and flooded the market. I think they take requests from collectors, and any serious collector will be getting his Criterions while they are new - whereas something like The Blues Brothers or Gleaming the Cube just plain caught most people by surprise, and collectors have to chase them.
I doubt they worry about bootlegs because their experts inspect them before they pay, and I am sure they would give extra scrutiny to such an extremely rare DVD.

From their FAQ's:
18. What does it mean when we list the buy price of an item for 1 penny?
No, they are not that cheap. We are buying these items but we do not have data at this time to determine the buy price so we must physically see the item and evaluate it before we can list a price. If you are creating a purchase order to sell to us you are welcome to include these items in your purchase order. You will receive a fair price for these "penny" items.

I wouldn't trust them when it comes to that, mainly due to my experience with them as a buyer. They are not the most trustworthy people on earth to deal with.

I have sold them several DVDs on 3 different occasions, and haven't had any problem at all - on the other hand, I certainly wouldn't trust them to give me their idea of a "fair" price on an extremely rare and valuable DVD. I was perfectly happy to sell them my 3 Blues Brothers and 2 Return of the Pink Panthers for as much as I could have gotten at ebay at the time - and more than I could have gotten at Amazon after their 15% commissions.

Damn - I picked up a Texas Chainsaw massacre tonight with the ground beef cover, and looking at my sources it seems to have dropped in value. DVDs123 was formerly paying $33 for it, now just $5.80. There are still a few going for ~$30 on Amazon, but it seems to me it was worth a lot more at one time.
Still, I guess for $6 after the B2G1 free I guess it was a good deal.
