Yes, the new DB is excellent and I happily double-dipped.

It's great having companies like Blue Underground, Synapse, Media Blasters and Anchor Bay (among others) that cater to the "slight left of center" crowd.

Sure, they're not for everyone but I like a good mix.

Rate mine.

Tell ya what, I'd watch a German film anytime over a French film. Let's just say there's some historical and current geo-political reasons for that. [/B]
..plenty of reasons not to watch american movies either then? considering, erm, youn know whom and you know what etc etc... that would be just as daft...IMO!

the storyline is very likable and i think they are movies anyone can enjoy and appreciate, not necessarily have to be into anime.

:) i have em all... the japanese discs ... a small part of my collection but cherished highly as i waited over a decade to see many of these in proper versions!

Ok I think I have a decent collection. Please rate mine. Keep in mind I am not a huge horror fan. Please start at #1 and tell me what my collection is missing

I took some time out of my day (about 4 hours) to rate your collection. A++ with a +or- 3.5%

Artman 08-19-04 12:30 PM

Anyone feel free to look at mine. (240 or so) counting both owned/owned animation folders. I have not been able to figure out how to do a direct link, so i'm afraid it's cut/paste.

Sorry, you only get an A+

"It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" in Full Screen that killed you. Had this been in WS, you'd have gotten an A+++.

If you watch this on a widescreen TV, A++. Or if you put heavy black contact paper accross the top and bottom of your 4:3 TV will also put you back to A++. But it doesn't matter now, once rated you're good/marked for 2 years. :)

Would someone be so kind as to rate mine?

You are missing the Matrix. This is a serious hole in your collection. Until you get this quintessential DVD film, your "collection" cannot even be called a collection. Sorry, get the film and then I'll give this the complete professional rating.

No Matrix, no review. In your case there is another problem. It's the film "Walk to Remember, A". I've never seen nor heard of this film but it looks like a chick flick. No self respecting collection can have such a film and be worthy of a passing rating. Sorry with or without the Matrix you get an F-

Um, the OAR of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is 4:3.

MrVette99 - for being a general drain on the forums here and for being a jerk to those looking to get some feedback (in all good fun) of what others think of their collection or more importantly for others to suggest other films they may like based on their current purchases - you get an F-.

You'd be wise to follow your own advice:

Now this is a good collection. You have the Matrix (Thumbs UP), and most of the other films are worthy of repeat viewing. Overall nothing to challenge to heterosexuality, with one possible exception. "Pumping Iron" which is a crass explotation of male sexuality, and even if you are hetero, this film brings forth some worth questions. Hmmmmm?

As you can see there is some phycology in rating DVD collections.

Unless you are an aspiring body builder for the sake of getting hot chicks (you must be honest with yourself) this title is a sinker for the collection.

Let me put it this way. Girlfriend/16" biceps -- collection A+. No girlfriend/stick arms -- collection D-.

Sorry, but this is a profession rating, and the results are what they are. :)

That is a good point, but alas it doesn't matter. The rating stands!

so, do people actually go out and buy movies because someone else says you need it in your collection?

I once asked for advice on a film from this forum, and it turned out to be a real stinker, IMO. Free advice from a complete stranger is of no value. I usually use Rottentomatoes.com for a general feeling about a film that I've heard about. Which works out okay, about 3 out of 4 times. The complete bombs I just give away. Luckily not too many of those.

This whole "rate my collection" is for fun. Period.

Now this is fine collection. Seasons 1-4 Sopranos (Two Thumbs UP). This collection would get the highest rating with the exception of "Captain Corelli's Mandolin". I tried to watch this on TV and fell asleep in less then 10 minutes. This could be a great film, you might love it, it might have receive accolades around the world, but it just doesn't matter. I can only give you an A++++

You're one + away from breaking thru the chart.

One last note: "Death to Smoochy" (Two Thumbs UP) made up for "Charlies Angels" (uuughhh).
