well, something weird is going on.

In the interview Thomas Jane says that Punisher 2 will (if they make it) feature Jigsaw as the villain.

The same studio releases a movie called Saw whose main character is some kind of bloodthirsty villain named Jigsaw?

Maybe it was Thomas Jane that was confused. Maybe he overheard some execs at LG talking about that Jigsaw movie and Jane got a little ahead of himself.

I don't know but I'd get ready for Predators too.
It's just a coincidence. Jigsaw from the Punisher is owned by Marvel. If they were involved with this movie, it would have been mentioned on any of a dozen websites, and Marvel would have mentioned the film in their stockholder report a month or so back. If they're mentioning movies like Man-Thing, they would have mentioned this, which is sure to be a more high profile release.

so did anyone here get the randomly inserted variant comic book? i didn't, just the regular cover (with Jane looking down POV holding a pistol). i'm curious as to what the variant looks like. if anyone has it and can post a picture, that would be appreciated.

I've yet to see one person getting a different comic book. I doubt one exists.

I think the variant rumored was going to be a comic cover for the DVD itself, not the comic. But neither has materialized.

The Punisher will be released with a limited edition comic book-style "chase cover." These discs will be limited to 10,000 copies and will be distributed randomly at retail.

Just the regular cover.

i thought it was the other way around.

from superherohype:
"On September 7, The Punisher hits DVD and will include a limited, 28-page, full-color mini-comic written by Garth Ennis and with cover illustration by Tim Bradstreet. The unique comic provides a background to the movie, adds depth and back-story to the Punisher character, leading readers into the first scene of the film. 10,000 lucky people will also score an exclusive limited edition comic with an alternate Tim Bradstreet cover."

it wouldn't make sense to put out a dvd sleeve that's different, as that would only confuse the hell out of the public. and that would make the stupid chase too easy.

anyway, i have yet to see any.
