The Punisher: Sept-07-2004

According to dvdaf.com, The Punisher will be released on Sept. 7, 2004. I missed this one when it came out, so I have been waiting for the DVD release.

ugh....not keen on the artwork....if they use the two heads, then they should take out the center piece, as it's not "fluid" design. looking forward to the dvd, nevertheless.

Bandit03 05-26-04 10:34 AM

Looking forward to this release, thought the movie was great but I too hate the cover art. Why coudnt they just stick with one of the posters? Either the one with the skull with reddish tint or the one with just the Punisher standing in the middle (the coverart without the two faces on the side).

digitalfreaknyc 05-26-04 10:42 AM

just curious...

when did DVDaficionado begin "scooping" DVD news sites?

Mike Lowrey 05-26-04 10:51 AM

That may not be the final official cover-art. Sometimes, I've noticed, that DVDAfic doesn't always have the correct artwork.

QuiGonJosh 05-26-04 10:56 AM

sweet...I loved this flick...

ruk 05-26-04 11:15 AM

how was this movie, might be a blind buy

Defiant1 05-26-04 11:21 AM

I thought it was horrible, like a throwback to those cheesy action movies from the 80s that litter the VHS shelves of Blockbuster.

Geofferson 05-26-04 11:34 AM

I missed this one in theatres, but despite the bad reviews, I still want to see it.

KnightLerxst 05-26-04 12:12 PM

Sweet. Great movie...especially the bloody climax.

BernieStolar 05-26-04 12:59 PM

This was a fantastic story of revenge. Better than Kill Boring IMO.

The cover art should have just featured the endlessly marketable Skull logo, not the faces.

exm 05-26-04 01:37 PM

I liked it too. Great flick. It's still running in NYC btw.

REL77 05-26-04 02:04 PM

Dolph Lundgren will forever be 'Frank Castle' in my eyes! Given that statement, I still want to see this one

cactusoly 05-26-04 02:17 PM

I thought it would suck because of the reviews, but I loved it and I'm a big Punisher fan. I think it is geered mostly to fanboys

KnightLerxst 05-26-04 02:37 PM

I am not a Punisher fan and I only know a little about the character.

That said, this was a very underrated moving in my opinion.

TBFL 05-26-04 04:52 PM

As a Punisher Fan Boy collector, and the fact that the movie was filmed in my backyard here in Tampa, I had to see it.

I would have to agree that it is no better than any other cheesy 80s action movie, but some scenes were great.

I still love the shot of the knife through a goons throat that is seen in his open gaping mouth.

MrX 05-26-04 05:21 PM

I wanted to see this but never had enough time.

I'll probably rent it first.

Um.

Tarantino 05-26-04 06:24 PM

You could compare endless movie covers...some will look the same.

What was your point?

As for the movie, I might check it out on DVD for the extras.

... not only was I presenting an enlarged picture of the cover art, but the point of my post was also to point out that it had a very similar cover to Face/Off, another movie with John Travolta as the villain (not to mention the fact that it also has Thomas Jane!)

I would have thought that was obvious. Or were you just being hostile, for no apparent reason?

ignition 05-26-04 07:49 PM

Just FYI to everyone, dvdaf uses movie posters for their artwork until the real artwork is released, so I wouldn't count on that being the final artwork.

I love those cheesy action movies from the 80's. :D I'm a big fan of the original Punisher starring Dolph Lungren, If this one is half as good, I'll be happy.

Defiant1 05-26-04 09:42 PM

LOL. To each their own. I will say that I love the Seether/Amy Lee song featured in the movie and the soundtrack.

madcougar 05-27-04 12:26 AM

I dont' get to the movies much anymore, so this is good news as I'm a big fan of comic book movies. Even bad ones. Not that this one's bad. I haven't seen it. But I said that already didn't I?

Jackskeleton 05-27-04 12:58 AM

Jawsome! I enjoyed it in theaters, Can't wait to buy it.
