The One and Only DOCTOR WHO DVD Thread (Version 6.0)

Ah, yes, my Doctor Who DVD's are on their way from Digital Eyes. Albeit slowly. Media mail.Cheap, but, sometimes oh so slowwww.
Can't wait for them to arrive.
Patrick Troughton was my favourite Doctor. Took me a while to get used to Jon Pertwee, because when I started watching Doctor Who when I was a wee lad,I never knew about the first Doctor so the whole regeneration thing took me aback.
Daleks, Cybermen, Ice warriors, and The Master were my favourite bad guys/things.I always wished that Rob Bottin would be involved in a Doctor Who movie, or, series because I would just love to see his version of a Dalek, or, Cyberman.
When I came to the states 20 years ago I didn't see much of Doctor Who and so I was out of the loop so to speak. The last Doctor I saw was Peter Davidson's character.I was surprised, then, when I saw the pic of the DVD cover with Colin Baker and Patrick Troughton on it.
Now, that, I'm getting.
Awesome thread by the way.

On the Invasion of the Daleks, I noticed quite a few people missing in the special features, including Susan and the guy who did the dalek voices.
Are they dead?
And Barbara was hot in a stay at home mom kind of way.

The story is actually called The Dalek Invasion of Earth and sadly, yes, some of the cast are no longer with us.
Carole Ann Ford (Susan) and William Russell (Ian) were both on board for the Audio Commentary. However, William Hartnell (the Doctor) and Jacqueline Hill (Barbara) have "moved on" to that other dimension....
Barbara was definately on the "Hot Meter" for that time. I'd have to say that Peri will ALWAYS rank as the hotest Who Companion (IMO).
We need more Peri on DVD!

That one companion from Baker's Keys to Time set is pretty hot.

That would be Mary Tamm and yes, she is on the Who Hot List too.

I always liked Lalla Ward. I don't know what it is about her, but I guess Tom Baker felt the same when he married her. All this talk of hotties and nobody even mentions Louise Jameson, or is that like stating the obvious?

I always figured that Leela was a no-brainer, which is why I didnt speak up. She's the one companion I had the hots for as a kid.
Then again This Picture may change some minds about Jo. . . .

The First Post has been updated with the following news from Gallifrey One:

There have been a few reports of faults and problems with playing the March North America DVD releases, The Seeds of Death and The Three Doctors. If you have trouble with your DVDs, send email to [email protected] and let them know, whether you bought the discs from BBC America Shop or not. Let them know where you bought the DVD from, in what way it's faulty, and what make and brand of DVD player you use; any information given them to help narrow down this problem will help avoid problems in future and they may be able to tell you how to get a replacement disc.

Mind you, Peri was also a bit of alright, and I second someone else's vote of confidence for Liz Shaw! Liked her (not only in looks but as a character) much better than her successor, who was basically just a cypher.
Too bad Derrick Sherwin didn't stay on as producer. Much as I like Pertwee's period, I only feel if he'd stayed on, the later season would've probably been more like season 7 (and Liz would have probably been kept, if she wanted the part) ...

And since it's VERY unlikely that the TV Movie will ever see a Region 1 release (from Producer Phillip Segal's own mouth), that leaves only 3.

...unless there's going to be some flash-back regeneration seen in the new series....

I was watching Seeds of Death yesterday, fantastic. I only saw it once before way back in the 80's when I was a kid and hardly remember anything about it.
It is me or has some of these stories not only stood up against the test of time but actually seem better then when I first saw them in the 80's? When I first started to get back into Doctor Who a few years back I thought many of the stories would seem like total crap now, but in most cases, I enjoy them better.

I few weeks ago I started watching all of my Dr. Who discs in order and just finished "Seeds" last night.
I have a comment on the extras (not just from Seeds). Some of them seem a little, um, odd. The Tardis Cam? A deleted scene that's not from the main story? They're cool and all, it's just some seem misplaced.
