The widescreen was incorrectly framed, cutting off some of the picture

OK

I guess I will have to take a look at this and see. Is this common and is it easy to see if your disc is one of the ones needing replacement?

Great!

You have been very helpful. I will take a look tonight. I guess I was just so happy to finally get the movie on DVD I didn't pay any attention.

I guess I was misunderstood. What I was asking is that I have not bought BTTF yet. I am waiting for the new release to hit stores. I wanted to know if they have shopped the new retail package with V2 in it yet. Thanks

It's really easy to tell... if you own the widescreen set, it needs replacement.

All of the widescreen sets are incorrectly framed. They have *just* now fixed it and I don't think any of the corrected sets have even hit stores yet.

Well - I'll be enjoying my corrected V2 in a few days.

Good luck getting them at a retail store soon. I imagine it'll be a few months before they start hitting shelves.

Just called to get my mailer, and they are still reading the "disclaimer" before they take your address.

One new thing they have added, though, is this statement:

"Please be advised that replacement discs have started shipping."

I don't know why they think this is so important, but the guy repeated it twice, so there must be some significance.

Sorry but can you still send discs in? And are those the only two major misframed shots?

Yes, you can still send discs in.

And, there are a few other shots that are misframed. (One that leaps to mind is a shot that is supposed to focus on the hoverboard, yet the hoverboard is completely cut off the bottom of the frame.)

Even if they were the only two, and they didn't bother you, I'd send in for the replacements just to teach Universal a lesson. They knew about the problem before they shipped, but didn't want to miss the big holiday rush.

I'm waiting till the V2's hit the stores, and even then I'm going to shop around.

Just curse up a storm and use the penalty papers instead, I always say.

Do you really think this will teach Universal a lesson??
Do you know how much does it cost to make a disc? ---Cents--- Do you know how much did they make on the release? ---Millions--How many ppl will ask for a replacement? ---Hundreds---
I really doubt they won't do the same if they have to choose...
Just my 2 cents

So can anyone post pics on how the new discs look? I skimmed this thread and it seems nobody has mentioned whether or not the new discs are actually framed correctly.

Got mine yesterday! I like the two nice clear jewel cases too.

Now I can actually see what is really going on below this frame:

I am starting to worry. I sent my discs in the prepaid envelope at the end of February and I have not received the replacements. I called Universal today and they do not show having received my discs. Any thoughts on what I should do?
