How long is Universal accepting phone calls for replacements discs?

Hmm, I got mine from HMV in Canada. Any idea if they're honoring those as well? It has French on the packaging ...

I just got off the phone with a nice lady, but just for everyone's giggle, she had not heard of:

Best Buy
Cleveland, Ohio
The trilogy Back to the Future

Dear lord.

Mine were Canadian discs as well and I exchanged them. You have to have an American address to get the replacements sent to, but there is no physical distinction between the Canadian and American discs for the company doing the exchange to look for.

If you *live* in Canada, there is a different number to call than if you're in the U.S. I believe it's posted near the beginning of this thread; or you can check the new "Glitch Central" section at DavisDVD.com ( http://www.davisdvd.com/misc/glitch.html )

Just called in to get the return envelopes even though I havent even bought the DVDs yet.... Im planning on ordering these through FreeDVD4me.com which uses Overstock as a supplier. Does anyone know whether they are shipping the V2? I am assuming I will just have to send them in.

BTW, the CSR I spoke to said this replacement program was indefinite....

How long before I can sell my discs on ebay as rare errors? I need to know when most people have returned the original discs.

As long as these defective versions are out there, I would expect them to offer replacements.

Has anyone had problems with the replacements? I just got around to watching part 2, and the interview with the writer and director in the bonus section would not play. If you select it, it goes to the main menu, and highlights "play." If you select that, the movie plays w/ commentary. Weird.

Anyone else have this problem?

I mailed my discs on October 23 (or it might have been the 24th) using the prepaid mailer....so, about 3 weeks ago. I called the customer service line, and the nice lady I talked to said they're getting a new list next week, and they will call me at work if I'm on said list.

Question: is it normal for it to take this long to get in their database?

I got mine just yesterday!

It took about 4-5 weeks for the turnaround time.

Came in a nicer box than I sent them....

Well at least if they're delivered over Thanksgiving weekend, I won't have to worry about them being left on my doorstep while out of town. My apartment complex just unveiled a shiny new central mail station, with key access.

I called 11/06/03 and I recieved my mailer today 11/15/03.

I do have a question though, should I get my mailer insured by the post office or do I just drop it into the mail. I am just worried that my package may get lost.

Also, I my prepaid envolope has a different zip than what is on the first page of this post.

If it gets lossed, call em and tell them. They'll send you the replacements anyways.

Well, scratch what I typed yesterday about waiting for Universal to call me back regarding my status.

I got my discs today!

The tale of the tape:
Sep. 29 - Received defective box set from Deep Discount DVD; called Universal for mailer
Oct. 16 - Received mailer
Oct. 18 - Showed friend (and major BTTF fan) visiting from Cincinnati the problem, using the "jacket gag" as the demo scene
Oct. 23 - Mailed discs to Universal
Nov. 15 - Received replacement discs

I don't recall exact mailing dates, but I mailed my discs back the same day I received the mailer. The date on the accompanying letter received with the mailer was 12/8. I just got the discs today, 12/27, with a letter dated 12/16...so basically eight days between the letters saying "here's your mailer" and "here's your replacement discs." Not too shabby!

I sent mine out like, a week and a half, two weeks ago. I just recieved my replacements today. I thought it would take longer, but here they are, in sturdy jewel cases and all. Yay.

When I first bought this set like a year ago, I had no idea that the full frame was open matte and actually showed more of the picture.... so I think when the price drop occurs, I'll just replace my Back To The Future set with the full screen version.
