Wow, Sony finally gets one right. Kudos to Sony for releasing something that's older than ten years and not The Dark Crystal.

Now, it would seem to me that this would be a good time to release Erik The Viking and A Fish Called Wanda, but what do I know.

Erik the Viking was supposed to be released a few weeks ago, but then something happened and it wasn't.

My last VHS tape is finally heading for retirement (once the disc is in hand).

You know, now that I think about it, it's a little disappointing to find that the official DVD has fewer special features than the bootlegs. Most of the bootlegs I've seen on Ebay have the 50 minute making-of documentary Group Madness. The official release has nothing. Of course I'm still buying, though.

Oh yeah, I understand that. I'm just saying that it's disappointing that they couldn't come up with the documentary or in fact anything. Doesn't even look like we get a trailer.

As excited as I am for this DVD release, the cover art looks like someone ate a bunch of Yellowbeard movie stills and threw them up into a keepcase.

Not as bad as I thought it'd be, but they make it look like its predominantly a Cheech & Chong movie.

Still, I'd give 3 farthings for that lump of shit any day.

And the weird thing is that the Cheech & Chong act is the weakest part of the film.

They should have went with the poster art.

And why is John Cleese's name smaller than everyone else's? I know he wasn't in it for very long, but neither were Cheech and Chong.

Wasn't Mgm/Sony's cover for ERIK THE VIKING gave a Japanese comedian high bill than Cleese? Maybe someone at Sony doesn't like him?

Sorry to read that Yellowbeard wasn't reviewed kindly by dvdbeaver. While Gary's standards are high, it appears this release received no love at all regarding the transfer.

I just picked it up at Best Buy for $9.99. If you can't find it, check the ACTION section. That's where these were.

Man, I had to read that twice and check the site to see for myself that DVD Beaver reviewed this title.

It dawned on me recently why this finally got released. Because of the fans have wanted it for so long? Oh, no, remember this is Sony we're talking about. Much like Lucasfilm, Sony treats their customers as a necessary inconvience. No, Sony released this to 'cash-in' on the new Pirates of the Carribean movie. That's all, and it looks likey they did it as cheaply as possible too.

Well, I had not gotten around to picking this up, as I am cutting back. The sure sign of a problem is trying to quit, eh. Needless to say, I can skip this purchase and just rent it. Maybe Fox will give it some more love come Blu-Ray or HD DVD.
