YellowBeard

I was wondering if anyone knows if this movie will be released anytime in the near future on DVD.

I can only find it on VHS and the price is insane.

Thanks in advance and I appologize if this has been discussed already.

If it does, expect some mother in Texas to get very upset.

Yes. Also, "shall I give her more shark treatment, Sir?"

David Bowie wearing a gigantic shark fin. Worth the price of admission.

I'd love for this to come out on DVD! I was lucky enough to have a brief chat with Graham a year or so before he passed away (he had given a talk at the University of Maine and hung out for a while after the lecture to talk with a few of us). I remember he said at the time that he'd love to get the chance to re-edit Yellowbeard because he thought that it could be a much better film than it ended up being. I guess it was one of those situations where the studio "knew better" and took the film away from its creator and made their own changes before it was released. I wonder if Graham had documented his desired changes and if it would be possible for someone to reconstruct it, in his vision, at this point in time? Regardless of the form, I'd love to have it on disc!

Any movie with former pythoners rocks.
I don't get a chance to watch my VHS copy to offen. After LD and DVD its so tough to go back. A re-edit would be something. Maybe let Cleese have a go at it or even Gilliam. Since they had collaborated on so much in the past, they would probably understand his vision.

This movie was distributed by Orion Pictures. A search on Google shows that the Orion web site points back to MGM. I sent a quick email to the people at MGM asking them if they had the distribution rights. I'll be sure to update the thread if they write back.

I remember seeing this at the theatres when it came out. I was only 12 or something, and I remember liking it, yet I have no memory of the actual movie itself, plot, etc. Weird, huh?

I know I'm running the risk of threadcrapping here, but I'm too curious to resist asking: am I the only who thought this was a terrible waste of talent?

I love the Python films (of course, Yellowbeard isn't one of them despite some of the Pythons acting in it) but this is just unfunny, shameful garbage. Maybe somebody forgot to tell the filmmakers rape isn't funny.

there is no rape in the film just talk of a possible one
the one instance where yellowbeard says he raped the girl she says it wasnt rape.
and for the film not being funny well it comes down to taste and if you read this thred most people think it is funny.
I for one think its great and would love to see it come to DVD

Yellowbeard rapes in the movie. You never actually see it, just clothes flying out.
