Bootleg Yellowbeard DVDs are on ebay
ebay says they don't allow boot dvds, but the site is full of them from movies just like Yellowbeard that for some reason have yet to be put onto dvd by the studio, so people will do their best to make some money, hey if the studio does not want it maybe the little guy can make a few bucks, i however have it on video tape and will set back and wait, and wait some more for the studio to finally release this funny movie on dvd and lets hope that it will be a special edition with loads of extras. it is after all a cult classsic and deserves no less.

You can't get the DVD, but apparently you can get this. It seems to have been released fairly recently.

I have no idea why you can buy Yellowbeard the book, but you still can't get the DVD. If there's one thing I've learned, it's learning things never taught me nothing. And books is the worst. Still, I may buy this.

I am new to your forum but share your pain I can't see paying $30 + to own an old rental copy that has hardly any play left. There has to be enough of us to start emailing someone.

This movie is a good example of stuff that ebay dubbers rake off of and the studios ignore, by the way the script book by Graham Chapman is a hoot with a long and informative introduction about all involved with a script treatment of unproduced trailers as well. It might be worth picking up if you want to show em Yellowbeard has some fans.

A friend of mine is borrowing a copy of this film, on DVD, from someone he knows. The quality is shit, but I'm almost positive that it is not a bootleg. It seems to be one of those $5 cheap DVDs, that you can get at Wal*mart, or something. I could be wrong, though.
As for the movie...I'm not a big fan.

Is it a bootleg.
Now technically is it a bootleg if it is taped off of HBO and before the showing of the film it does not have a piracy disclaimer? Not that I am condoning bootlegging in anyway but from a technical standing if it does not say for private use only like on DVD's and VHS is it protected from you recording it, or even letting someone borrow it?
Don't know if anyone has a definate ruling on this.

Technically it's a bootleg, I would say.
Buying or selling it is illegal and wrong [not saying you are].
Copying a program off TV and keeping it for 'personal private/home use' is technically legal according to Fair Use, I believe.
Converting to DVD, even for your own use, is iffy--now you're getting into 'altering' the program or the media, which I don't think you would technically have the right to do. Obviously, if you tape a program/movie off TV, convert to DVD, destroy the VHS, stick the DVD in your DVD rack for your family's personal viewing, though that's probably technically 'illegal', I don't see the Movie Police busting in to your house to find it.

I'm just glad I still have my crusty old VHS copy laying around.

Well it was originaly recorded off of the television using a DVD recorder so I don't have to transfer it, luckily! I am surprised Ebay allows so many bootlegs to be sold, I have seen so many other auction pulled because they didn't go "along" with their "Ethics Policy".

I'm surprised no one's picked up on this... I've never even heard of the damn movie outside of this forum and despite not being interested in this title at all, I figured everyone else may be
