Some of the best horror movie posters ive ever seen have been from Indonesia of all places...there are many of them in the book "Eaten Alive-Italian Zombie and Cannibal Movies" by Jay Slater. I wish some american posters were as creative and unique.

It's all marketing. Our brains are machines that need to put objects in categorys. If something is good we process the things that distinguish it and tend to gravitate to objects that create simular signals. I like certain colors and when I shop for cloths look for those colors. Fit and style come later, the color gets me to look in the first place. This is the same concept with movie posters. Something makes lots of money and everyone will try to copy it for a quick buck.

I like the ones where the cast are all floating to the side of the text - it looks like they're reading the titles and quotes.
