Amazon shipped me a WS sigle disc digipak even though the description on the site said keepcase.

I'm happy with it though and what really matters to me is finally having this film on DVD.

Yes they did. If they didn't, they wouldn't have gone thru the trouble of putting writing on the back.

Sure you did. An easy statement to make. Images talk better than words in a forum like this. Good images are the only proof. There is no 2 disc on Region 1. There never will. But in the rest of the world there will only be 2 disc versions.

and how will we get these 2 disc versions? (in other words, should we look for keepcases in the store starting next week?

wow - ok, but mine is glued on so tight it looks like it is meant to be there permanently. I'd just about have to rip the digipak into pieces to get mine off.

Unless I missed something and I don't have "another" back?

What writing is there under the glue-on label? Mine is glued on for keeps.

If you buy your copy at Best Buy, you won't have to worry about that glue on the back of the case. Since that is where they have the free booklet, and the one-sheet is just behind the booklet. They're all just shrink-wrapped together. No glue is used.

Another incentive to buy this at Best Buy.

Picked up mine at Wal-Mart... the paper on the back wasn't glued on at all. I like the case, but I wish it had a slipcover to help keep it shut. And the fact there is no bottom on the pouch on the inside is pretty stupid. I like this movie enough that I would have bought it if it came in a jewel case, though I do wish that it had come on 2 discs.

Look at all the versions, then look at the one listed as "Collector's Edition", it's the two disc widescreen version. How did DVD Profiler get the UPC code if it doesn't exist?

This has been done with a few movies. T2 Ultimate Edition comes to mind.

Wal-Mart is indeed another place to get the digipak without the spec sheet glued to the back. I was surprised to see mine fall when I took the shrink wrap off. Glad, but surprised.

A number of titles get added pre-release before all specs are known, and people have been known(even through they shouldn't) to add pre-release titles with made up UPC's.

As was posted above - this was originally planned and announced as a two-disc set. At some point it became a flipper, but I guess not all media outlets got the word.

Reviewers received 2-disc copies - so they *do* exist. The one they showed on CNN was in a thick alpha keepcase (like most Criterion 2-disc sets).

I got mine from Columbia House yesterday and it was a flipper. The case feels like a hardcover book and it doesn't snap shut.

Yep. T2: UE was available in both from the start though. There was no way that I can recall to tell which you were getting though as they were in the same case, one just had the little leaf thing in the middle for the second disc.

I don't think they made the dual-sided dvds and 2-disc sets for the T2 Ultimate Edtition at the same time. The first run was on a dual-sided dvd that had a metal slip cover and then later on they started putting them out as 2-disc sets with a cardboard slip. I remember getting mine at Wal-Mart, and they only had display copies out and you had to ask at the desk to buy the dvd. The display copy was for the dual-sided disc and it had a metal slip cover. When they handed me mine, I was a little pissed at first because it was cardboard, but then I noticed it was on 2-discs instead of one so I was pretty happy then.

I got my T2 Ultimate Edition with the metal slip cover as a pre-order and received the 2-disc edition. I believe it said somewhere on the case, as well.

The reason for this was that at the time there were few replicating facilities that could make DVD-18s. That has changed in the past three and a half years.

I was looking through my dad's DVDs last night, and even though I like the packaging for Schindler's List, it would be neat to have had it in a case like the 2 disc Pearl Harbor, it looks like a book, and snaps shut etc etc.

T2, in both one and two disc editions, were available on the day of the original release. Both versions had the metal slip sleeve. It was supposed to be a DVD-18 only release but, as said above, they couldn't get enough replicated fast enough for the release date, so double disc sets were made as well. As I recall, there was wording on the back of the case that revealed whether you were holding a single or double disc version (that's how I made sure I got the two disc one!)

That's the same thing I thought when I picked it up. I like the packaging, but I would really like for it to be able to fully close and stay shut and the type of case they used for Pearl Harbor would have been great.

Mine came in the mail the other day from Columbia House as a flipper in the digipack (or booklike case). I would rather have a keepcase. But, since this movie counted as a fulfillment, I can't complain about a $7.50 price.
