I just checked with the manager at BestBuy and he confirmed that the 2-disk version will be available sometime next week. Go ahead and check if you like. His name is Peter Scotts.

Exactly, except it is $8.50 here in California.

Got it from Columbia House... One disc digipak. The back sheet fell right off but there's some light glue residue... Not sure if that will clean up good or not, currently at work... I'd rather have a keepcase but no biggie... Might wait for a nice cover to go up, print one off and switch it to an Amaray.

~ 25% are reporting receiving a double disc?

I believe most of those voted on what they wanted, rather than what they bought.

The rest? My guess is they just like messing with jough's head. That's why I picked 2-disc, keepcase. The survey was shot anyway.

What a buch of bumbling idiots in the marketing dept @ Universal.
I'm returning my pre-order digipak flipper edition. Figure if enough people do maybe they'll get the message. Then again, if nobody's home, who's listening.

Why? I myself don't really care too much about the switch or getting up to flip the disc, but I don't really see an advantage to having a DVD-18 or a disadvantage to having 2 DVD-9s either. With 2 DVD-9s, it at least reduces the risk of disc scratches and DVD-18s are more prone to disc errors.

How so, Alan? What advantages do you see to a flipper over two DVD-9s?

Can you elaborate on your thoughts? Your statement above wasn't very articulate, and could be misconstrued as a threadcrap. I'd hate to see you banned from the board just because you didn't take the time to fully explain yourself (lest people think that *you* are a bumbling idiot - which hopefully you are not).

Interesting . . . I think that the two discs are better. I hadn't really thought about it before, but one advantage to having a two disc set is, for people with DVD changers (like myself), you can put in both discs and not have to get up and flip the disc in the middle . . . just "forward" to the next disc.

What I'm gonna do is hold onto my receipt and keep my DVD sealed until next week. If we get some in or there are reports of them actually existing for retail, I'll just bring them back in for an exchange when my store, hopefully, gets them. They'll most likely have the same UPC # as there are only 3 listed in our system, I think. Should be an easy swap... unless someone wants to give me a hard time. They're usually cool about exchanges and returns, especially to a fellow employee. Of course, I guess I will be out a collectible pictorial, but how many times would I have looked at that thing anyway? Really, I only took one with it cuz it was free.

Still not quite sure what to believe on the whole 2-disc version's existence. We'll see...

I like the flippers because My dvd player flips them for me, and they don't take up an extra slot in my 300 disc changer...

FWIW, I just received my 2nd broken gift set from them, and it was packaged for shipping as you describe above. Not a happy camper... :-(

A tip for people worried about the sheet being glued on. Get it at Best Buy with the free photo book (if your store has any left). The book is in between the sheet and the box, thus their is no glue.

I'm still waiting for my first shipment to arrive from Amazon. Unfortunately they decided to ship my gift set by UPS which is usually twice as slow as shipments that are sent by USPS. However tracking says it should be delivered today. Hopefully it won't be broken.

Mine gift set from Amazon arrived a couple days ago just fine. The only blemish was a minor tear on the back on the thin slipcase, probably due to the weight of it and being held in place by those small metal rods. The packaging in a major nuisance just to get to the DVD.

Getting this for someone as a gift, so I picked up my Plexi-box set at Best Buy the other day. They had plenty for me to peruse, and they all looked to be in perfect condition. I think it looks pretty classy. Hope it stays that way when I ship it out to them.

Same here. No cracking or broken pieces, but a few scratches on the rear of the case.

No - if you can't remove the disc from the hub (impossible? really? even with a great deal of force?) you should return it for an exchange.

If you can't watch a disc, or remove it from the packaging, it's kinda worthless, no?
