I just got the one-disc digipack at Fry's. They didn't have the keep case version there.

Lousy that the holder for the little booklet doesn't have a bottom. The thing will slide out of the bottom if you're not holding it carefully.

It looks like the keepcase version may be an Amazon exclusive. Perhaps other mail-order companies will get it as well - sometimes Columbia House will have a keepcase version of a set that was sold as a digi elsewhere.

Leave it to Universal to screw up packaging... AGAIN.

Wow, two double-sided discs.

Okay, well, my hopes for a 2-disc are extinguished, unless I can find a review copy someone wants to get rid of.

I'm just happy I got a keepcase - that digipak looks awful.

All the stores I shop at my town only have the single disc and gift set, no 2-disc I could find, so I pick up the WS single disc at Wal-Mart cause they were the cheapest at $15.88.

All I could find in San Antonio was the digipak version (checked Best Buy, Target, and Blockbuster). I wanted a keepcase. If anyone local finds the keepcase version, please let me know.

Edit: I also checked Costco, but theirs was packaged in a box with the novel, so I couldn't tell.

yea that happened when i took mine off too. all i did was just rub my thumb over the parts i could see to swipe off that residue. then i got a paper towel dipped some water on it, squeezed excess off and wiped it, and dryed, repeat.

and also if anyone has picked up this supposed "2 disc version" take a picture and end the mystery.

jough, that Democrat comment was completely unnecessary. Other already has too much partisan crap going on in it... the rest of the forum doesn't need to be infected, too.

If it is a hoax, why are the backgrounds different on each digipak?

The 1st disc has that window with a beam of light coming through, while the 2nd one is completely black.

Schindler's = 196-minute film. WHY is there even a need to SPLIT this film into two sides of a DVD-18 disc? Both layers of the movie side can easily hold up to 260 minutes (depending on the PQ of course). But, I'd think even a stellar transfer (which I assume "Schindler's" is) wouldn't require flipping using a DVD-18.

Probably the DTS track, in addition to the other audio options, would be my guess.

I pre-ordered this title from Columbia House... I'll post what kind of case they have as soon as I receive it. My local BB had the digipak...

That's the main reason.

When I got my box set, I paid for it, opened it in my car to then find out the bottom plastic part was cracked badly, then took it back it and wanted to exchange it. They gave me a little hassle and tried to say I could have broken it but I got it after a minute are arguing... Its nice looking for sure

same thing happened to me. when i got the boxset home, i was upset to find one of the metal posts appeared to have cracked the back of the package (there was no way to tell in the store, since the back sleeve covered up the defect). i'm going to take it back to exchange tomorrow; bestbuy better not give me any hassle about it!

For some weird reason, the version I got (in canada) was shrink wrapped twice... the actual digipak was in shrink wrap, then the paper bit was wrapped around that package and shrinked again... so there is no "glue" or anything like that....totally mint.

I was disappointed to see that only the single digipak disc was available at every store I went to...oh well, I'm glad to have the flick!

You could easily fix that right up in Photoshop. The important thing to consider here is the amount of cardboard in between the two discs. There isn't enough room for the second disc to close in on top of the first disc. Definitely a fake. Why anyone would waste their time making that, though, is another question.

I went everywhere looking for at least a keepcase version, but had to settle for the single-disc digipak from Best Buy, so at least I got the photo book.

Yeah, you're right. I'd forgotten about the million sound variables attached.
Thanks for setting me straight.

I picked up my giftbox at Wal*Mart ($46.24). A few of them had the top center post "floating". I found a good one. I thought I checked pretty well for cracks but after taking off the shrinkwrap, found a very very small one. No biggie to me.

Very nice package.

Okay, this is getting out of hand. Unless I see a decent photo, the person who said there is a two disc with artwork is telling a tall tale. I got it from FYE, digipak, and its NICE. Its like a hardcover book and glossy (yeah just to reiterate) and I am pleased with it. It has a insert and no forced previews. There is NO WAY there is a two disc set because that would be so stupid. Gee, lets make a "flipper and a 2disc for the hell of it..." Maybe I'll eat my words, by my digipak with the flipper seems as good as it gets and I'm satisfied. $14.99 is well worth it.

I picked up the boxed set for $15.88 this afternoon, but thats only because they had them ALL on the same shelf. I asked the manager "Where are your SL dvd's?" She took me to them and said "Oh look, they are all $15.88" so she gave me the boxed set. When it rang up it was not $15.88 so she did an override and gave it to me for $15.88 and said she was going to seperate the boxed sets from the rest

Guess I lucked out

I think this is horrible packaging. What the hell is it with Universal. They screw up "E.T." packaging so freakin' bad, and now they come out with this piece of garbage. I don't want something that resembles a novel for my dvd packaging. I would like a normal DVD case. The thing won't even close. Unless you put one case on either side of it on your shelf to keep it from opening, the case will not stay shut. Talk about dust contamination!!! Someone in another thread mentioned something about attaching velcro. That may help, but I'm afraid it might also rip apart the stupid paper pocket (that stupidly has no bottom to it; so the insert can just fall right out) due to the stress of the velcro tabs opening and closing.

IMO, this is a major packaging botch job by those idiots at Universal. Are they blind? Can't they see what a good job other stuidos do with their A-list films? Warner, Criterion, etc. These people at Universal are hacks. I am so disappointed with the packaging on this title. And I waited so long for the film to be available on disc. Where is Steven Spielberg on all these packaging atrocities?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Universal must have a team of monkeys working on packaging. At least Panic Room had the decency and common sense to provide a slip cover to protect the disc from dust or potentially falling out. This Shindler's package has one of those push-tab holders which can easily break. If that happens, your disc is screwed.

Universal dummies!
