You would expect something like this from Universal but not Di$ney!

How much do you guys think one of these will go for on ebay?
If you go on Ebay and check, you will see the price ranges from about $25-35.00.

So does anyone think Disney will make an official announcement about this?

With no official statement ever being released, what else can one do? I did say probably... and I wouldn't put it past Disney for a second.

This is ridiculous. How many times are they going to tease us about releasing Ed Wood. Is it some sort of marketing move to release it with Big Fish or wait for Academy awards time? Ugh!

Just ordered the R2 version or under $10 US. Screw Disney USA.

Disappointing. I recently saw this again on cable and loved it more than I remember. I was definitely looking forward to picking this up.

Where's the official statement with the reason for the delay?

There is no official statement, at the moment. Not surprising, since it's still the weekend.

Amazon.co.uk...

The list it for 6.39 pounds, which converts to roughly $12. However, the VAT tax is about 15%, so when you subtract that the price is actually 5.44 pounds, or about $9.90 US. With Air Mail to the states it's about $15.50. I just modded my player (Philips 793C) to be region 0, and it has handled other R0 PAL discs well before, so I figured this is better than nothing, or trying to track down one of the many profiteers selling leaked R1 copies.

It's still listed at some sites like CDUniverse + Digitaleyes. Never used them, so who knows.

Silly Disney, I guess they like to alienate potential customers.

Anyway, I never was able to catch this film, and was really looking forward to this release. Huge Burton and Depp fan, so if anyone would be kind I'd be interested in purchasing a copy that got through Disney's system.

Besides the obvious tie-in to "Big Fish," there are a couple of other tie-ins that Disney could piggy-back onto if they waited until shortly after the Oscars.

The first would be Johnny Depp, since he's the lead actor. There is a possibility he may garner a Best Actor nomination for "Pirates of Caribbean."

The second would be Bill Murray, who is a supporting player here. He's another likely Best Actor nominee.

So I guess Disney could cross-merchandise and cross-promote with all these elements.

BTW, I called my local Suncoast. They are letting me put a $5.00 deposit down, but won't sell it to me until Feb. 3. I didn't mention the recall, but I'm not holding out much hope since I'm sure they'll get notice on this by Monday or Tuesday. When I go in there today, I will bribe the counter person with a $20.00 bill if he lets me buy this immediately. It's not like it's a huge release like "Pirates of the Caribbean." Maybe I'll be able to snag a copy this afternoon.

Thanks, I'll give Suncoast a shot. But I doubt it.

And I see that DVDLegacy has it on Ebay, we all remember how they handled Duel.

I went ahead pre-ordered a copy from digitaleyes since it's still listed there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We'll see what happens.

The digitalbits.com CONFIRMS that Ed Wood will be DELAYED indefiantely.

I'm a big Ed Wood fan, I collect lobby cards, movie posters with his name on it, but this I had my heart on since they announce the 2/3 date. I'm sadly heartbroken.

May the House of Mouse be trampled by UFOs with strings on them...

I found 2 copies yesterday at the mall. Had to pay 29.99 for each, but after watching one it was well worth it. One of the better produced DVD's i've seen in a while, and it is a shame only a few copies are going to get out.

To follow up my last post, I called one of my two Suncoasts we have, and they said "They still haven't heard anything about it being recalled/delayed. Call back Friday, Jan. 30th to check to see if they still are going to sell it." He also said they had them in the back, too. For me anyway, so far so good. Hopefully, Disney forgets about Suncoast here in Omaha, NE!!!

Also, about a handful of region 1 Ed Wood dvds are now being released on eBay. One is going for $36.99 and still has six days left!!!!

Also, agoodma, so what are you doing with the second copy you bought? If it is taking up space I"LL be GLAD to buy it from you.

[email protected]

***I just called the second of our two Suncoasts and they say they have them in the back and I can put down a $5 deposit for it. His manager also said that reshipping it back to Disney is UNLIKELY and if they do stop from releasing it, Disney may allow for a few shipments to be released in limited order and will not ship anymore, until they release officially.***

Working @ Best Buy when we had a recall on some Tupac/Eminem dvd, even though we had them in the back, we were FORCED to ship them back. If Suncoast or whatever have them, and have not put them out, they will be shipped back. The company usually pays for the shipping, and fines those that sell the item. Also, I noticed that while other auctions are up for this, they are all pre-sale and only the afformentioned auction seems to be the only one with it in hand. I bought the other one for my friend, sorry.

I just got back from a Coconuts store. There were three copies on the shelf...i grabbed two and went to the counter (with my copy of The Critic), the salesguy hesitated when he saw the Ed Wood dvds in my hand. He checked his release date book and told me that he could not sell me the copies of Ed Wood, since it was not out yet. We got into a heated argument about why they would have them on the sales floor, but the guy would not budge. I didnt bother to mention that The Critic was not yet released either (didnt want to press my luck). Anyway, i guess i got the wrong checkout guy (maybe a manager or something), i'm going to try again tomorrow (assuming they're not sold by then). Coconuts and FYE always have stuff out early, so good luck to the rest of you!
