Anyone get shipping confirmation from Amazon.ca ?

My order is still there, and I never received any notice from them that this was cancelled/delayed - so I'm not sure what to expect.

Chalk up another very pleasantly (and rapidly) surprised Amazon customer.

Jmj713 - I did the same thing. I was using a Borders gift card, and decided to order something else instead once Amazon listed my DVD as unavailable. (I wrongly assumed I could reorder it from Walmart.com instead.) Funny thing is, right after I did that, I had a bad feeling and then I just knew people were going to start getting their Ed Wood preorders from Amazon!

But in the interim, when the price gets close to $100 again, people who paid $60 will be happy.
I agree as well, but we really won't know the true scarcity of the disc until the dust settles.

However, my theory is that this is a rights issue, which is the only reason they would recall them since there seem to be no errors or glitches reported by DVDTalkers, and Buena Vista will obtain whatever copyrights they need to leave the disc unchanged, but also include Oscar blurbs when they do re-release as a coverup.

I have a specific reason for disagreeing; I think it'll reach a plateau, but it hasn't yet, and it'll still drop for a while.

The reason? How many people are there who want 'Ed Wood' (immediately) so badly that they'll pay $100 for it?

The answer is, a whole lot less than there were two weeks ago, and as time goes on, the number will get closer and closer to zero, not farther and farther.

I expect this'll drop to $40-$60 (at most) for a while. Anybody who's buying this as an investment would be wise to wait until they announce the new one, and hope that it's missing something.

Just my two cents, though, I could easily be wrong; either way, mine oughta be arriving today or tomorrow, so I'm happy...

My Ed Wood search was like this, I went to Media Play and waited for the guy in movies to tell the customer before me that Toy Story went into the vault because Disney owned Pixar and Pixar had nearly bankrupted Disney with their unprofitable products. I knew hearing this, that this would be my best shot at getting Ed Wood. I asked the guy if he had it and he said there are 21 in the store, he will get them right out. He looked forever and a day and said he found them with a note on top that said send back to distributor, distributor recall. He looked at the note like the idiot he was, and for probably the first time in his life followed instructions to a tee.

Went to Suncoast, they said the disc was defective.

Tried Borders out of desperation, 4 were in stock. The guy grabbed two to hold for me, and as he was writing my name on them the manager came up and said "Get the other two we have to send them back today." The poor guy said this man on the phone is coming to pick them up and the manager said no we have to send them back immediately.

My Ed Wood story, so close yet so far.

I found Ed Wood at a local Sam Goody last week, (blind buy for me) and opened it up and watched it last night. It was a great movie but at various points in the film it paused, (around 5 times) almost like when you get a layer change. When this pause happened I would rewind the scene and it wouldn't happen again. I can't remember which scenes at this time, but I have a Sony DVP-S300 that I have owned for approximately 6 years and has played flawlessly up until now. Anyone else here with a similar glitch?... maybe a possible reason for the recall?

Mickey is always at fault. I just don't trust him.

I posted this in another thread and others might say the same thing. Check you local Sam Goody. Don't think they got the message. Went tonight and they were sitting out on one of their display racks right in front of the entrance.

I found my copy at a Blockbuster as well. I got it on Wednesday, so I really don't think they got the message. The day they had the recall on Swamp Thing, they had those suckers off the shelf before they ever opened. I have read more than a few people finding theirs at Blockbusters.

I checked two Blockbusters near me and both told me it was recalled.

What the hell? This sucker's been for sale for, like, 13 months in Korea. You can get it off any Korean website. The only difference between the R3 and what Amazon says is that there aren't any Deleted Scenes. I just bought the DVD in a random store today.

Anyway, this has probably been said before but I ddin't want to wade through the 34 pages of posts, so I'm sorry if this is wasted information.

Thanks for the tip, I ordered from them the day I read your post and it just arrived today. Thanks again.

I know exactly who got that copy. This is a copy I was technically screwed out of, but I'm not too pissed since I received my copy the day before. Although, I have 2 friends that are now without. Another co-worker of mine got a couple copies from FYE at Quakerbridge, but by the time a friend of mine went to get one, they were pulled or sold, and by the time I got off work, the copy I called and asked them to hold was no longer available as they received word of the recall. They said it would probably come out in a week or two. Yeah right.

Anyway...

I hope you all find copies for your collections. Not for profit. I'm out.

Looks like this thread is beginning to slow down and run out of gas. It was fun while it lasted.

Watched it today, no glitches playing on my Philips 724.

I think people are too pooped to post.

It's come down to a wait-and-see what comes of all this.

If it boils down to a marketing ploy.... gotta admire the genius of it.
