If that ends up being the case - I've got a copy of Temple of Doom for sale.

before this group, i had never heard of someone not loving the entire trilogy. For some reason...everyone always has a beef with TOD or LC. I absolutely loved all 3.
Huh.
Just curious as to what people DIDN'T like about them. But anyway...i'm still waiting for a list of extras. I'm hoping they'll release the Making of's as separate discs and give us completely new extras.

Spoiler:
Seriously, it's a bit goofier than the first one, but nowhere near as goofy as the third (although I think the second installment takes itself a bit more seriously).
And the girl was much hotter in the Temple of Doom than in either of the other two.

I think you hit it right on the nose with that statement. It is goofier than the 1st and less than third, but unlike the third which is meant to be fun and entertaining, the second one fails miserably.
If I had to decide between the first and third, I'm not sure that I could. I love what Connery in the father role brings to the table in exposing a different side of Indiana - but the first, well, it's the first.
The whole concept of a Stunt man archaelogist having to struggle with the Nazis over religious artifacts, what's not to love? The second one differs from this strategy, and loses my interest along the way.

The only good scene in Temple of Doom is the dinner conversation between Indie, the English General, and the Indian King/kid. Their discussion about coloniel imperialism is the only moment in TOD that attempts to link Indy w/ the contemporary world history around him (something that makes Raiders and Crusade so much fun). Other than that TOD is nothing but gross out effects and really brutal violence. But the mine car chace is incredible.

Now I don't feel so bad having payed so much for the Laserdiscs last year. I would prefer that the films were released TOTALLY UNCUT AND UNALTERED
The blemishes on the effects are what make the film of its time. I wouldn't want King Kong, The Posiedon Adventure, or Ghostbusters to have their effects cleaned up. Any alterations makes the film something "else" something new. I want the original Indy films.

I'm another witness that in 1977 Star Wars was titled just that.
One of the early rumors that Raiders would finally come to DVD came from George Lucas telling USC students Spielberg declined his invitation to do an Indy commentary.
I agree, it would be great if they did do one together.
I very much agree.

These movies should be released unaltered, warts and all.
I would like the best possible transfer but films should not be changed to suit the ever changing special effects standards and artistic tastes of today.

"... in a new, remastered version that enhances the final scenes with dazzling state of the art special effects!"
I haven't noticed anything that doesn't look right. (its on the version that has a big painting of Indy with the words "widescreen thx..."

I'm curious too.
I like all three movies a lot. TOD is probably my least favorite, but I still really like it.
No one on the forums seems to agree on which one is the crappy one, TOS or LC

I heard that Spielberg is holding out for dinosaurs to replace the Nazis in ROTLA. Also, he wants Indy to shoot a velociraptor in the scene that previously contained the guy with the sword; and he wants a T-REX on the floor of the cave in lieu of snakes.
Other than that, no real changes are planned ...

Indiana closes his eyes, they look down into the ark and...
Angels come flying out and hand everyone ice cream cones!
Now THAT's what I call a sticky situation...

Quick question. Is this true? I saw the film five times back in '77, and as far as I can remember, the first thing to scroll up was "Episode IV: A New Hope"
Or are you refering to the title only?

Seeker, you may have been there, but you're mis-recalling. "Star Wars" always had "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the opening crawl.
To say that it confused viewers at the time is an understatement. A number of archived reviews that mention this are available online if you search through them. IMDB is your friend.
Oh, and even though Lucas is stating now that there was never to be a trilogy after episodes 4, 5, and 6, we who know better remember his stories about a trilogy of trilogies, where the droids were to be the only characters in all of the episodes.
But of course, Lucas is mostly making up the episodes as he makes the movies, it seems. We'd love for there to be a "master plan" but there doesn't appear to be one.
I'm just looking forward to the legendary fight between Anakin and Obi Wan at the edge of the volcano, as happened in the radio stories.

I was under the pretty damn solid impression it wasn't in there until '78 or '79. When the film was re-released in theaters. Obviously, there's going to be confusion, since that was only a few years later.
The web is filled with misinformation though. While looking for possible quotes to back this up, I found some anti-Star Wars article saying the episode titles weren't put in until 1997.
I don't remember, and people here are saying it was and it wasn't. What do I know? It doesn't matter.

When the original theatrical version was first released, it was simply titled Star Wars. The opening crawl was changed to "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" during the 1981 re-release. According to Sterling Hedgpeth, Lucasfilm film archivist: "I found a box with all the positive elements for the 'revised' opening crawl, and the assorted trim boxes are dated from October through December 1980. This, then, is consistent with the view that Episode IV: A New Hope was added for the first time to the opening crawl for the April 10, 1981 re-release."
