Wonder if they'll remove the fly?
I don't mind them removing little things like the reflection. To be honest I never even noticed it before. But it'd be nice if they included a feature that point out the chages for us unobservant types. I've always been a fan of onscreen bloopers.

I absolutely cannot for these releases. Is there any word that Spielberg and Lucas might possibly do a commentary together? I know I have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than have Spielberg do a commentary, but it would still be sweet.

Wondering if they going to clean up the scene where Indy was holding the whip as he was being dragged undernearth the truck, if you look very closely you see that they made a trench so that the stuntman would slide very easy, they showed this on AMC on tv on the making of Raiders of the Lost Ark, if I remember correctly.

According to: http://www.gazeta.sky.pl/priv/jones/indy.htm
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Errors, mistakes etc.:
--This one is the best: On the streets of Cairo, when Marion is kidnapped, Indiana Jones is confronted by a man wielding a scimitar. The guy is being very fancy with it, and Indy just shoots him. For many people this is the funniest part of the movie, it is also reminded in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. This was funny, but originally he was supposed to fight him with the whip. Harrison Ford was suffering from a bad case of the flu or other illness, felt too bad to use the whip, pulled out his gun and created one of the most memorable moments of the film.
--When Indiana Jones is dragging along the ground, hanging onto the Nazi truck with the Ark inside, you can see the pad that he's being dragged on.
--When Belloq is yelling at Indiana Jones on the island from down in the canyon, you can see a fly crawling about his face. He flinches not, nor does he make any attempt to shoo it.
--Before the shoot-out in Marion's bar, after the Nazi asks her for the amulet, she's sitting alone at the table. She pulls the amulet out of her shirt, the chain still around her neck, and stares at it in the candlelight. The next moment the chain is not around her neck and she hangs the necklace onto the table centerpiece.
--When Marion is being held captive she is gagged, and in one scene her hair is held near her ear. In the next scene it is closer to her nose.
--The shadow of the stone Indiana Jones pushes out to escape from the Well Of Souls bounces down the sand dune!
--This is supposed to take place in the 1930's, but the map says Iran, Iraq, and I believe Israel too. Naturally, Israel didn't receive statehood until 1948, and at the time Iran/Iraq was Persia.
--When Indiana Jones first falls in the Well of Souls and is face to face with the cobra, you can see the snake's reflection on the glass dividing it and Harrison Ford, also some fingerprints and stuff like that.
--Sallah and Indiana Jones are peering into the well of souls. Sallah is to the right of Indy. Indiana Jones then drops the torch into the well, and when the camera comes back up, Sallah is on the left of Indiana Jones.
--Indy's gun is frequently knocked away from him and lost, yet in the next scene, his gun is back.
--In the shoot out in Marion's bar, Indy's gun has only 6 shots, yet he fires off about 20 shots without reloading.
--In the well of souls, you can see hieroglyphics of C3PO and R2D2 on the wall.
--In the shoot out at Marian's bar Indiana starts with a revolver then switches to a semi-automatic pistol halfway through. (He throws the first gun away and pulls another gun out of his jacket pocket).
--As they come out of the "mapping room" in the tomb, there is an extra crouched down by the door, apparently hiding. It seems as if it was a quick fix for someone who was where they weren't supposed to be.
--When Indy is running through the streets of Cairo looking for the men carrying Marion in a basket, the sweat stain on the back of his shirt shrinks and grows.
--Indiana Jones and Sallah visit the old man and find out that the Nazis' headpiece to the Staff of Ra has only one side. This means they have a six foot high staff (as one side of the headpiece orders to build) but have not subtracted one foot (making it a five foot staff) as the other side of the headpiece says. When Indiana Jones goes to the map room the staff he is holding is well over five feet tall. It towers over Indy's head.
--The stunt where Indiana Jones pushes the statue through the wall in the Well of Souls happened too quickly. If you watch the stunt man, he slips and almost falls off the statue, because it fell before he was ready.
--When the Well of Souls is opened it makes a vacuum sound. This would be impossible if the snakes were entering from outside, or if they were to survive.
Seems like there will be alot of work.

The Last Crusade
Errors, mistakes etc.:
--In the beginning, when he is fighting aboard the Coronado ship, he is punched in the face and bleeding on one side. The camera then changes views, and the next time it shows him, he is bleeding out the other side of his mouth.
--When Indy and Elsa are taking off in the boat, the guy chasing them jumps onto the back of the boat, but falls off. Two seconds later, he is back on again!
--When Elsa is driving the boat back towards the dock the steering wheel changes sides.
--The first time you see Elsa, and she talks, she adds a z to almost all of her words. Therefore the is zee. Near the middle of the movie, she talks like an American.
--In the temple in the Canyon of the Crescent Moon, Indiana Jones rushes to his father's aid with the Holy Grail filled with water. He is shown pouring every last drop onto his father's wound by turning the Grail upside down, yet another camera angle shows his father clutching the grail to his chest, and there's still a bit of water in it.
--In the catacombs underneath the library, when he find the "X" on the wall, he is shown ramming the wall twice to break through. The first time he rams it, however, the wall looks as if he had already had a few goes already.
--Don't you think he would've been able to see that bridge?
--In order to avoid a giant spinning blade, he must "Kneel before God." He does, and the blade goes whizzing over his head, yet he also rolls forward to avoid a second blade that pops up out of the floor. Does that mean The Penitent Man Kneels and Rolls Before God? Why did he roll?
--At one point, Indiana Jones rolls off of the side of a tank, and somehow gets a strap around one of the guns pointing out from the sides. The end of the barrel has already been blown open by the rock he shoved in earlier. How did the strap get around that big cluster of metal, and then back again so he could climb back on the tank?
--Indiana Jones and Marcus seem to have no problem getting into Italy. Italy at this time was already a Fascist country, which would have made it quite difficult for two Americans to get in.
--In the catacombs of the library, Indiana Jones and Elsa are waist deep in petroleum. Indiana Jones has a torch, and if you look carefully, you will see burning pieces of the torch fall and hit the petroleum. Wouldn't this start a fire?
--When the flames are shooting down the tunnel, they overturn the coffin for protection. Just before this, however, Elsa is holding the torch, the next second it's gone.
--When the tank falls off the cliff, the turret falls off, but when they look back down shortly thereafter the turret is still intact.
--When they are first looking over the cliff at the tank, Sean Connery's beard is quite full, and in a shot moments later, still looking off the cliff, it has been trimmed.
--When looking for a clue in the library, the large "X" disappears from the floor when Indiana Jones starts smashing it up. (I'm not sure about it. Perhaps it's the matter of diffirent angle of wiev).
--When Indy's dad is shooting that machine gun on the plane he accidentally shoots the tail. It goes to another shot and it's fixed and then it's broken again.
--When they go under the coffin you see the flame of the torch in the background. How could the flame go under the petroleum without burning it?
--When Indiana is showing Marcus the Grail Diary in his fathers home, he closes the book 4 times in a row without opening it - first 3 times inside the room, and then once on exit.
--When Indiana Jones is stepping on the letters at the end, trying to spell out God's name, he steps on J, incorrectly. When he falls through, however, he grabs onto another letter so as not to fall down. The letter he grabs onto and pulls himself up with is not in the word Iehovah.
--How do Elsa and the other guy get through that part without knowing to spell out God's name? Visitor comment: One of your goofs is asking the question how do Eslia and Donovan know how to spell Iehovah when Indy almost forgot and he's an expert. Well if you look when he is crossing the tiles Elsia and Donovan are at the beginning of the tiles watching and listening to him.
--When Indiana Jones and Elsa are in the tunnel under the library, they find the second marker which is inside the knight's tomb. Indiana Jones takes out tracing paper and rubs it to get the information off the second marker. Then when the fire breaks out in the tunnel, they are forced to swim to safety under water and then out of pot whole in the middle of an outdoor restaurant in Venice. Yet when they get back to the hotel and Indiana Jones and Marcus are looking at the paper it is completely dry and unsmudged. How is it that both Elsa and Indiana Jones were soaking wet, and the paper survived in spite of being in Indy's coat the whole time? (perhaps the paper is wax paper so it is water proof ??)
--In the beginning where Indiana Jones is young, he fights some guys on that zoo train. When he's on the crate with the rhino in it, the background changes in each shot. Once there are trees behind and a split of a second later there are rocks, once there's a cliff and once a plain, and it all changes in splits of seconds as they change shots.
--The country in which the grail is found is called The Republic of Hatay. There has never been such a country, republic or whatever, (Perhaps its not right info, take a look at turkish / syrian history from 1938 to 1939 . Anonymous visitor of this page sent me this text: You may be interested to know that there was indeed a Republic of Hatay annexed as such by France in 1938. In June 1939, the Parliament of the Republic of Hatay voted to dissolve itself and become a province of Turkey. ) and the "temple" itself, that beautiful structure carved in the stone is actually a part of an ancient city called Petra and it is actually in Jordan.
--A caption gives a date in the 1940's but in one scene they show the route the plane took on a map. Intercontinental flights weren't made until the late 1950's.
--(Sent by anonymous visitor) When Indy and Elsa enter the castle where Connery is being held, it is pouring rain, and continues to do so while they are inside. However, when they make their escape from the castle and are pursued by the motorcycle Nazis, the sky is clear, there is almost no water on the ground, and there is actually quite a bit of dust being thrown into the air by the motorcycles.

I never realized there were so many mistakes on these movies. Guess ILM has their work cut out for them. As long as they stick to just fixing mistakes I'm all over this release.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the telephone pole that you can see under the nazi ammo truck that blows up (supposedly with Marion) in ROTLA. You see it through the dust if you just look. I noticed it early during the 33 times I saw this movie in the theatre as a kid. One of the "Making Ofs" also points it out. They couldn't get the truck to turn over with what they had to work with. So, they sawed off a telephone pole and rigged it to "shoot out" via an explosive device to give the truck the lift it would need to turn over.
I would miss seeing that and the snake reflection though for nostalgic reasons.

I hope they can work some magic and clean up the ending of Temple of Doom. Those rushing water, cliff face, and bridge shots are sooo bad I can't stand to watch them. To make it perfect would take a miracle, i'll be happy if they can approach bearable.

These movies should be released unaltered, warts and all.
I would like the best possible transfer but films should not be changed to suit the ever changing special effects standards and artistic tastes of today.

Does this mean they are gonna touch up the end of ROTLA? The effect used for the three main villians looks pretty cruddy today. But I can't let that go. Even though it looks horrible, I love it!
Maybe they should just put a featurette on the set that shows the before and afters.

I've always loved the effect at the end of ROTLA...
The one thing that has always bugged me is the TERRIBLE aligator stock footage used in Temple of Doom. It's just BAD... god awful. CG aligators probably wouldn't be better... but hey.. all those Clone Troopers were CG, and they didn't look so bad :P

Considering that the overall quality of the players released has been on a steady decline, I expect that more players would have trouble.

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
Most of the second generation players and up handle seamless branching with no difficulty whatsoever, even the Apex machines, which are surprisingly flexable with features and media types (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R, CD-RW, etc.) for their price.
Having a seamless branching version would be great. I'd say the same of the original Star Wars trilogy too.

I certainly hope the DVD's aren't offered in "Trilogy Only" format.
If that ends up being the case - I've got a copy of Temple of Doom for sale.
