I agree.   A digital restoration is one thing, changing or altering the content is another.   I don't mind them removing mistakes, but please don't go changing things like the title in Raiders.

If they want to add scenes, fine by me, if they want to correct mistakes, fine by me. As long as it's Speilberg and Lucas doing it, and not a studio.
I'd like the option of the original as well, of course. If it was changed to the point I don't like it anymore (like ET) then I'd be annoyed, but respect the creators for being able to do what they want with their movies.

Beats me Kerbours. Since Indiana Jones wasn't limited very much by technology, time or money in it's production I doubt there's anything. I'm just saying If I made a movie and later wanted to change it, then it'd be in my rights since it's my movie. I'd include the original for the fans though, since it's possible through seamless branching and what not

When indy falls into the snake pit and is staring a open fanged snake in the face you could see the reflection of indy's face on the glass that is seperating the two.. it is very noticable.

Umm is it me or was i the only one who has never noticed these 'mistakes'?
Granted i have not seen Raiders in years, let alone in OAR yet. Yet the only 'mistakes' i've noticed in the other films(saw them on tv in WS recently) were the matte lines in a few scenes. Yet on biggie for me. In fact the obvious mattes add alittle bit of charm to the scene.
Sort of like jerky stop motion. I don't want it 'cleaned up' to run 'smoothly' since it already works perfect as it is.
Still if all they are doing is 'erasing mistakes' that were'nt that noticeable to begin with. Then it's no big deal yet i think still a waste of $$$$.
As long as the films themselves are not changed content wise. I will be buying the set. Yet if there are any PC altertations. Then screw you guys...i'm buying the laserdiscs!

Just because YOU didn't notice those mistakes doesn't mean the rest of us didn't. the mirror reflection is very clear to see as well as some of those other mistakes. Besides, you should already own the Laser Disc.

Or are you refering to the title only?

Visual/Technical cleanups, a la removing matte lines (one of the positive aspects of the Star Wars Special Editions) = a good thing.

Damnit! Well at least it'll be fixed now!

There's a Time Magazine article from 1980 that confirms that the 'IV' subtitle was added in '79.
My $.02. In general, I'd prefer that they just released the films as-is. They've been fine for the past 20+ years, why bother tinkering now?
That being said, if they want to remove wire work, matte lines, the reflection, and other obvious gaffes like that, I can live with it. I just don't want to see these things altered to become a huge CGI fest. Removing errors? OK. Altering FX shots to look "better"? Not OK, in my opinion.
Toht's face melting looks just fine as-is, thank you very much.
