Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Haven't been there in while.

They had a new display, some old, some new.

Finally able to find "Three O'Clock High". And saw another copy of "Mutiny On The Bounty" SE, took a chance. Some might recall, the last time I bought this set both disc were... blank.

All three discs are mint. And both for MOTB work! Cool. I'll give this a watch this weekend or so.

As Jed Clampett was fond of saying, "Pitiful...just pitiful." It's getting to the point now where the $5 titles should be $3 and the $3 titles $2 or less. Given the sorry state of the DVD industry and the dramatically reduced prices across the board, the tariff for these dregs at Big Lots is starting to look just as ridiculous as the outdated $5 dump bin at Walmart. This just does not reflect clearance pricing anymore and it's only a matter of time until most of this junk ends up at the dollar stores.

Been awhile since I have been to BL but a found a few pieces of interest.

Mostly I saw titles that I have already seen dozens of times, some at higher prices. And not as much niche coolness as there used to be.

Some at higher prices is right. I forgot to mention that mixed in with the normal boring titles were what must have been a newer shipment of the same old boring titles...with 6.88 price stickers. Shockingly they seem to be going the wrong direction

Yeah, the only thing I was interested in were the "Fast and Furious" and "Borne" movies, but they were all tagged $6.88

Unfortunately, yes. It's been replaced by apartments, I think.

That's sad. It was an incredible structure and should have been an historical landmark. It was spooky as all hell, but such an interesting place. As a setting for a horror movie it was brilliant, but the movie didn't quite live up to it in my view. It wasn't bad, but could have been a lot better. Still, I would buy it for $3 and bring it out every now and then for October screenings.

Probably for the best. I grew up in that area as well and kids (myself included) used to sneak in there from time to time at night and it was super dangerous. The new apartments kept the "body" of the bat so some of the original structure (and all the underground tunnels, which are there, but blocked off at entrances) are still there.

True enough. But really, the only reason kids would sneak in there was because it was abandoned. It would have been nice to save since it was said to have inspired H.P. Lovecraft's Arkham sanatorium, which in turn inspired DC Comics' Arkham Asylum.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The NoHo store on Vineland Ave finally got rid of that 8 foot, 4 sided cardboard "tower". There's a couple of waterfall displays and what's left only takes up about 1 1/2 sides of those wire racks. Inventory is shrinking away.....
