What's that site where you can see the cheapest a title has been in the past? I'm wondering if that WILD WILD WEST Complete Series is a record low.

the lowest it's ever been. Missed it last year at BN for 37.xx, so was happy to finally pick this up (even though I got the first 2 seasons from BL last BF).

So far I've had restraint and only bought what I know I will like and not blind buy because the price is cheap. but the week is young.

From previous Retail Experience, stores tend to get a good shipment of items in Ad X to make sure they have at the very least what is pictured to be on sale. This applies to all Weekly Ads and not just Black Friday.

This assumes that nothing goes wrong and sometimes it does. Such as stores not getting much of a said item for whatever reason or Merchandising + Inventory Teams not sectioning out what products are supposed to be held back for Black Friday Ads.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

Thanks Bob and Folks, I bookmarked the camel site.

Tempted on WEST, but trying to save money to get a tablet before Christmas. I borrowed my brother's WEST set, watched the first two seasons and am almost done with the third so am really not in a hurry to pick my own set now since it will be awhile before I want to watch the series again. Still though it's nice to have on the shelf! ACK! Decisions, decisions!

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

Oh, also noticed you get different prices depending on where you look for certain titles...
Let me know if anyone else sees this...
This is looking for Glee, S1 in a typical search on the site...
http://www.amazon.com/Glee-Complete-...2054485&sr=1-5
It shows the price as Price: $29.20

Now, if I click on the black friday link to the sale price of $9.99 (It will be this price as of 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. PST)
http://www.amazon.com/Glee-Complete-...d_i=1000747021

It shows up as being only $12.99 now! Weird!

Hmm, gets weirder. Looked up Psych: The Complete First Season. Via the $7.99 link this comes up
List Price: $59.98
Price: $24.64 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. Details
You Save: $35.34 (59%)

In Stock.
Sold by Anchor*Media and Fulfilled by Amazon.

Here is the price this AM for it on a regular search
List Price: $39.98
Price: $19.49 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. Details
You Save: $20.49 (51%)

In Stock.
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

So, it shows up cheaper in a regular search, but do you also notice it looks like via BF link as being out of print and sold by a third party, but shows up as being available from Amazon and still in print from regular search??? Has this been noticed by thousands here before, and I am just not discovering this???

EDIT. Just noticed the list price for Psyche is different too!

I noticed a couple of days ago when the Friday & Saturday titles came back that Deathly Hallows P1 is no longer listed/included...

A new thread went up earlier: Huge Sale on Fox Connect which shows How I Met Your Mother Season 1-5 DVD $10, S6 $13. Free shipping over $50. The OP has the link to the sale in post #1.

Deep Discount also has HIMYM on sale. I picked up season 6 for $10 yesterday.

So, I guess that the Black Friday sales that are listed at Amazon as being from 4:30am to 8:30am PST will actually be from 7:30am to 11:30am EST? Anyone care to confirm or refute that?

I didn't even think about that at the time. If that's the case, the DVD I want in this BF sale will be way more accessible to me than I'd originally thought. -kd5-

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

So far absolute crap from GO HASTINGS and an equally lame BF "sale" at OLDIES.COM. Not much new reported at BIG LOTS. 25% off at Warner Archive, but shipping and tax kill it for me. No word from VCI or WB Shop yet.

Not much for catalog titles anywhere, mostly just new stuff.

EDIT: Just got the BF e mail update from VCI: 50% off entire catalog, free shipping on orders over $50. No $4.99 titles like last year's sale. Ho hum.

Looks like I'm pretty much sitting this BF out unless WB Shop comes up with something as good as last year. Not such a good BF for fans of pre-90's movies and TV shows.

Yeah, afaik, Amazon always deals in PST, so if you're on the East Coast then you always have to remember to add 3 hours like kd5 did.

I wasn't aware of that title, but if you look carefully Amazon has two different listings for what appears to be the exact same item. That doesn't happen much ime, but I definitely have seen it before. The Married with Children Box Set also has two versions, one much more expensive then the other, for example.

GoHastings will have 30% off used DVDs and 20% off used BR. Its no huge Black Friday sale, but its something.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

Literally hundreds of price drops from Amazon since Midnight PST (3:00 AM EST). They're matching Wal-Mart and Best Buy (or coming very close) with lots of $5.00 DVD's and TV shows in the $10-$15 range, plus others I haven't seen advertised anywhere else. And even a few that are super-cheap like "He's Just Not That Into You" for $1.99.

You can see all of the DVD price drops here:

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

bestbuy deals are live. Eastbound and Down S2, Modern Family S2, Big Bang Theory S4, are all 8.99, for example.

Kicking myself for getting the Blu of Modern Family at 16.75. I like Blu, but not for 2x the cost on comedy show.

I got an error trying to checkout Big Bang Theory, now I can't check out at all. Site seems to be getting hammered.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread

I was just at BestBuy.com, found Deathly Hallows, Part 2 listed for $6.99 (but not yet available for that price), it appears as though once it goes live, I can order it from BB.com w/ free shipping. Would that be a pretty fair assessment?

If that's the case, I don't have to actually be at the Best Buy store at midnight (which I absolutely refuse to do) in order to get this for $6.99.

Amazon will have it for that price tomorrow morning but you have to buy $25 worth of stuff to get free shipping (not interested in Prime) and there's really nothing else that I want right to shell out $$$ for right now (there are other DVDs in my cart saved for later, but nothing of very high priority). Of course the downside to buying it at BB.com is sales tax, but tax on $6.99 may be preferable to me that having to buy $25 worth of stuff just to get Deathly Hallows, Part 2 for that price. -kd5-

If they aren't available I think that means they sold out already this morning and aren't likely to be back in stock at that price.
