Re: Big Lots Part 5

Went to some stores today with very little luck. After visiting 6 stores total (over the last 3 days) the total haul is:
Tales from the Crypt seasons 2,3,5 (2 of them),6
Flintstones seasons 2,3,5
Animaniacs season 2
Six Feet Under season 3
New Scooby Doo Movies
Wonder Woman Complete Series (2)
Smallville Season 7 Blu-ray (6...I'm giving them as presents so don't hate me)
Scooby Doo season 3

Xanadu
Romper Stomper
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Duel
Tekkonkinkreet
All the President's Men

All the cashiers looked like I murdered their children when I asked if there were any boxed sets in the back.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Finally struck some paydirt today in Austin...

All $3 titles:

Flinstones S2, S3, S4, S5
Josie and the Pussiecats: Complete (lol, what was I thinking? $3.)
Popeye: 1933-1938 (picked up 2... they had about 10)
Tracey Takes On: Complete First Season
Wacky Races: Complete

They had multiple more copies of each. They also had a ton of Nickelodeon releases I had not seen before (Rugrats, Avatar, Spongebob, etc) but was not interested in.

$29 and change total with tax. This was at the location on 183 near Spicewood Springs. Gonna hit up the other Big Lots and see if they got anymore (need to find Flintstones S1 also). I'll grab a Looney Tunes for the site if I see it (I've already got them).

Has anybody seen this ad? Is it just $10 sets or $3 advertised?

Rexxriot, in methuen, you have to go into the store and go straight. The $3 regular DVDs are to the left near the cash registers, but if you go straight, maybe two thirds of the way down the store on the left side of the aisle are the box set dvds.

I was there, today. picked up birdman, some adv. or superman, and the last appleseed steelbox.

I think almost all the lois and clarks were there, almost flinstones 1-6, I think, some seasons were opened.
Also:
Jacques Cousteau River exp
Tom and Jerry Packs
couple of super friends
everwood
adventures of superman
popeye

Re: Big Lots Part 5

I heard and read about the nice score that guy got in Peoria but that's just a hell of a commute from Chicago, so if anyone is within the Chicagoland area or the nearby suburban areas, can you update us on what you've found so far? I know Big Lots stores are scarce around here but whatever information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Less competition for someone out there as BL killed my car.

I was on the way to check a store or two today and my car just died. A tow and a cab ride later and it is looking like it will either cost a decent amount or be in service for a few (if not both). Might end having to get a rental but will most likely end up completely missing this shipment.

In the wrong thread but, will trade car for...

-Butler, PA-
Seems like today was the day for many us BL lurkers.

One side of the dvd quad was fully stocked today with the $3 stuff here. The $6 side is almost empty now. I think the Joey's may even be gone.

Very plentiful: Popeye, Flinstones, Top Cat, Josie, L&C, Adv. of Supes, War@Home, Tales ft Crypt, Larry King, Tom & Jerry, Wiggles
Not so plentiful: Academy Animation, Space Ghost, Birdman, V. Mars, Cousteau, Appleseed

Happy Hunting!

They are very strict on the 30 days, ymmv of course.
I dropped by Big Lots. The cashier told me to swap out for the same or another DVD. I ended up scoring Birdman and the Galaxy Trio. Course, I had to give up Superfriends Season 1. The funny thing was Birdman wasn't there this morning.

At the other location, I ended up getting cash and credit refunds. Everyone was cordial, no problems. They mentioned something about Wii games being at another location.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Wow... I checked the 183 and Rundberg location and they only had about 6000 (estimate, lol) copies of Dukes of Hazard, 20 or so copies of Joey, and a bunch of copies of Night Court.

The Parmer/Mo-Pac location had absolutely dick as far as boxsets. Nada.

Will check out my home location again later in the week (perhaps Sunday from what you guys say?) as they seem to be getting the best end of the stick. Good thing these are all like... within 2 miles of my place.

I bought "Joey" since I like looking at Drea De Matteo(Adriana from Sopranos).
That's now 1 vote for Joey's show and 34 against...

It was Phibes. I told him he'd go too far sooner or later . . .

Ask a representative at the store if they saw a chap in a pith helmet and monocle hanging around your car during an earlier visit.

I could not even estimate the numer of copies of Joey I have seen. It must be very unpopular.

You'd be surprised what reversing the polarity of the neutron flow will do to an automobile....

Re: Big Lots Part 5

In Houston, for what it's worth, the store in the Porter area off 1314 had the following:

Flinstones 3, 4, 5
Scooby Doo Movie Box set (Classic HB)
Scooby Doo Box set (not so classic)
Scooby Doo Season 3
Wacky Races
Space Ghost & Dino Boy

They did have two copies of Pinky & The Brain Vol. 1 but I snatched 'em for myself and a friend. Anyone else find some nice finds in the Houston/Dallas area? (I'll be in Dallas this weekend) The Looney Tunes / Kubrick box set is the holy grail I've been looking for.

The Adventures of Louis and Clark 1-4, Flintstones, Wonderwoman, Roots, Dukes Of Hazard, Dallas, Tales From The Cryps, Joey, Friends, ER and so on. Horrible how they stack them on their shelves. I picked up the only complete Wonderwoman box set.

Happy hunting.
I was there yesterday afternoon, picked up one copy of the complete Wonder Woman set, stashed one in a food aisle (to see if it would still be there at a later date, as I don't check regularly anymore), and left one on the shelf. I'm guessing you must've got the one I left on the shelf.

BTW, I remember seeing a couple S6 Smallville blu-rays there yesterday, no S7's hmm.

Hey Dirk, do you check any other BL stores in the area?

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Anybody who lives in STL & Metro East

Dont have too much time so i am gonna make it short. I went to Granite City Big Lots! around 2 and an employee was just putting out the new batch of $3 sets. They have pretty much everything. Most of the HB sets, Tons of Flintstones 1-5. TFTC 1-6,Superman, Appleseed, Power Puff Girls and other stuff. I asked her if they have any $10 sets and she told me there are no $10 sets. She showed me the boxes and told me that those are the only movies they received.
I grab some extra stuff to trade with ppl on DVDTALK.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

For those in the Rochester, NY are interested in the LA Lakers complete history, there was about 6 left this afternoon in the Greece store. On a non Big Lots note, in the Panorama Plaza Tops store I saw Seasons 1 and 2 of Veronica Mars for $9.99.

Popeye
Batman TAS Vol. 4
Adventures of Superman S3&4

Woohoo!

I got the last Flintstones S5, but there were additional copies of all the rest, as well as Everwood S1, which I had no interest in. No Crypt, no Looney Tunes. The store manager said that they didn't receive any $10 sets.

Now to find Flintstones S1 and all the other HB stuff...
I hit the Lemay Ferry store on my way home from work. Was able to pick up a POPEYE V 1 set that I was looking for, also found a copy of ROCK 'N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL. They have a few FLINSTONES, 1 WACKY RACES, 1 PEBBLES AND BAM BAM and 5 or 6 JOEYs left.
