Re: Big Lots Part 5

Well stop at BL today and got lucky the girl there had a other worker go to the back and get all the dvd sealed cardboard boxs and bring them up for me.Watched them open the sealed boxes up.

Flintstone 1-3 all were sealed
Popeye vol 1
Josie and pussy cats
Penelope Pitstop
Kung Fu Season 3
Agatha Christie Collection
Jacques Cousteau River Exploration
The Wiggles (wiggle-tastic collection)

No 10 sets thou The girl said they didn't get any in.Since she had the boxes brought up for me to look at I know she telling the truth. Also she said there is a big time buyer that comes and cleans them out Last time he bought over 700 bucks in dvd.But then he came back and brought back 400 dollar worth to return.

The best part I asked her if Big Lots takes back dvd that are open for a cash refund and the answer was NO... Put a big smile on my face. Hope FYI gets alot more of them

This Big Lots hunt will lead you to do crazy things. Today, I stood outside my office and watched a Big Lots go down the street. I was nearly tempted to get in my car and follow it.

On a serious note, it did make me think it had just made or was just heading to make a drop off and perhaps that would mean good things in the next day or two.

I live in western Pike County, so Jackson is a fairly short drive down route 32 for me. I was kind of hoping the same thing you were... that the Jackson store might have slid in under the radar on some of the nicer sets. No such luck yesterday, though.

Small world, though.

I found Tales from the Crypt Season 2 today but still no Looney Tunes (which is what I really want).

Sunday I had to drive a friend to Cambridge, Ohio and passed a BL along the way. On a whim, I stopped in and scored "Crypt" seasons 3 5 & 6. The hunt continues for the rest.

I opened a couple DVDs and they were scratched pretty bad. What is Big Lots return policy like?

I know how you feel because I watched every person who walked into the store today and thought they were there to buy DVD's. Imagine my surprise when the store was almost empty except for me and the reseller and I was the one who finally scored the prize. This gets addictive quick.

I only wish their regular DVD selection had been better because I really want to complete my James Bond collection. They had lots of DVD's but not the ones I wanted.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Does anyone think the Resellers are here to stay? ,or will they go back into hiding once the box sets are depleted and Big Lots are back to selling single DVDs.

Hit up Sterling, VA with hopes of finding ROOTS and HISTORY OF ROCK N' ROLL - no such luck. No new DVDs.

30 days if unopened, never tried or looked at the policy otherwise.

I imagine that it will be same title only if opened, and if they are oos, they'll give you store credit only.

They are very strict on the 30 days, ymmv of course.

I know it could change every day, but sorry, meant to post that I checked it Monday and there was nothing new.

I've never seen any $10 sets or blu-rays at Sterling.

I'm pretty close to it and try to hit it twice a week, we should coordinate so we don't waste trips.

What about sets that were open when you bought them? I'm probably going to take back my Flintstones S5 but it wasn't sealed when I purchased it.

No luck here with any of the box sets, but I did find a lot of Avatar: The Last Airbender at one store. Individual volumes, not seasons, and they were $4 each. Saw Season 1, Volumes 1 to 5, and Season 2, Volumes 1 to 4. Only 2-3 each.

Mere Canadian candy bars will not pull me away from my post, camped out at the local BL with my kit, monocle, and pith helmet. I shall defend the BL realm from hoarders and resellers everywhere. This crown, this jewel, this Big Lots.

Harumph, indeed.
In this formidable task you have my unswerving championship, if not my active involvement. I'm afraid I can withstand the smell of white trash and "parking lot burritos" for only a short period of time, and the liquidation swim goggles at Big Lots do not form a complete vacuum seal around my precious Canadian olfactories. But have at them, my good man! Leave nary a wife-beater unsoaked with blood! Render every cliched Chinese-letter tattoo from their very sinew! Tear the mullets from their contemptible heads! Ensure their illegitimate children remain illegitimate! Pip pip and all that!

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Hey St. Louis folks!

The Lemay Ferry store apparently restocked this morning. I just took a trip over there on my lunch break and was able to pick up the following:

Flintstones S2,3,4,5,6
Wacky Races
Pebbles & Bamm Bamm
Popeye
Batman TAS Vol. 4
Adventures of Superman S3&4

Woohoo!

I got the last Flintstones S5, but there were additional copies of all the rest, as well as Everwood S1, which I had no interest in. No Crypt, no Looney Tunes. The store manager said that they didn't receive any $10 sets.

Now to find Flintstones S1 and all the other HB stuff...

The problem is verifying that the set was already open when you bought it. Perhaps the cashier or a manager could make a note on the receipt at the time of purchase? Otherwise, an even swap for the same item shouldn't be out of the question. It usually just depends on who's working the desk when you come in for the return. I always hate when they ask for an explanation for the return, especially when it hasn't been opened. (ex. wife bought DVD she didn't know was already a part of the family). Guess you could always just tell them FYE's trade-in value wasn't satisfactory, and give them a sly little wink! (just kiddin')

Thanks belar. That location is little bit far from me but I really want to get Flintstones S4,5,6 and some other stuff that you mention.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Hit the North Hollywood BL on Vineland about 30 minutes after they opened this morning. Here's the update:

TALES FROM THE CRYPT Season 4 (bought 1, left 1 there)

TALES FROM THE CRYPT Season 5 (bought the only one)

FLINTSTONES Seasons 2 & 3 (maybe 6 copies of each)

SUPERMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES Season 1 (2 copies)

LOIS AND CLARK: Seasons 1 & 3 (a few, not many)

MILL CREEK 80/50 Movie Packs (a lot)

---------------------------------------------------

Heads up for fellow DVDTalk BL Hunters:
If you're interested, I stashed one copy each of TALES FROM THE CRYPT (Season 4); the ANIMATED SUPERMAN (Season 1) and THE FLINTSTONES (Seasons 2 & 3) behind all the Mill Creek 50 Packs on the shelf in the Electronics aisle. They are near the back and not easily accessible, but I hid them in the hopes that a good guy from DVDTalk would score them instead of hoarders.

---------------------------------------------------------------

It's funny, I went back there to return two sets I bought this past Sunday, but it turns out they never charged me for the TRACY ULLMAN Season 2 set, so they wouldn't let me return it. LOL. I can't give that thing away! At this point I would be willing to trade it for some really cool marbles.
