Trade Flintstones 5 for Flintstones 1? I can grab one tomorrow at Big Lots (they had like 5 more copies, iirc) Just lettin' ya know... all their copies of 2 and 5 were unsealed (but no one had messed with the discs) so it would be unsealed.

Re: Big Lots Part 5
Last weekend I went for a drive around Barberton and Akron, Ohio. All of the Big Lots had a very poor selection (OC s2 & Dukes mostly) and no $10 sets.
I've also been going to the Canton and Hartville stores quite frequently since they are so close to where I live. Nothing good at those stores either, just the usual (OC, Dukes, Night Court, Flintstones). Today in Hartville I did find season 1 of the Jamie Foxx show. Not interested so I didn't buy it, but it was the first time seeing it at any of the stores, and I had not heard it mentioned on the forum. So if you're interested, be on the lookout.

Re: Big Lots Part 5
Well, hell.
So I'm at work this afternoon (I work in a library) and a coworker comes in with a couple bags full of Big Lots DVDs for me to catalog. Turns out the boss heard about the sale prices (not from me!) and asked her to go over to Danville and pick up an assortment of stuff. As she empties the bags, I see the familiar $3 single and $6 boxed set titles, and I ask if by chance she saw any really big Looney Tunes sets. She says yes, there were about 3, but since the library has the separate Golden Collection volumes already, she didn't think we needed one. "Besides, they were $10."
I almost cried right there. (And yes, I showed her the photo in part 4 of this thread to verify that that was the set she saw.)
I was a nervous wreck the rest of the workday, just waiting until I could escape at 5 p.m. and drive to Danville. It had been pouring rain all day, so I was hoping against hope that some would-be shoppers might have stayed home, and that one of those sets would still be there awaiting me.
But of course it wasn't. Nor were there any other remaining $10 sets (aside from the 2-disc Looney Toons Movie Collection), and only a few $3 ones: Tracey Takes On S1, The War at Home S1, and one copy of The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show Complete Series - which I picked up along with a couple other titles as potential trade fodder. (My updated list is in the Big Lots Exchange Thread - page 15/post #363.)
So once again the Looney Grail eludes me. The day itself has been rather like a mad cartoon, though - from narrowly avoiding an accident this morning to having car trouble as I was leaving the Big Lots parking lot and having to call for assistance (I empathize, abintra). All accompanied by steady rain, of course.
I think I might be Joe Bfstplk.

Re: Big Lots Part 5
Finally found Popeye and one season of Flintstones this afternoon. All of the season 2 sets (about 30 total) of Flintstones were obviously resealed (some even had white dust/dirt/something on the inside of the shrinkwrap), but still a great deal. Right after I picked up my set a guy showed up and cleaned out the display.
I think that's why I have had no luck finding any of these sets. I guess he shops there daily and buys everything they put out for the day.

Is this the Max Fleischer's Superman: 1941-1942 set? If so, I'd love to pay for it in our trade if you managed to find any extra. Man that's awesome.

I've seen the ad but just looked at the first page where the $3 sets are shown. I did not see any $10 sets on the ad but then once I saw and verified the $3 sets for Sunday I stopped looking, thanked the staffer for letting me see the ad, asked when the sets *should* be put out and left.
Finally, the Bond titles appeared allowing me to inexpensively fill in gaps.

Was this today?!?!? I was there just after the store opened and again right before it closed and I didn't see any hints at new stock/$10 sets!

Re: Big Lots Part 5
Stopped by the Big Lots stores in Mira Mesa and Poway today. Mira Mesa had nothing but the old stuff that nobody wants (Joey, Life Goes On, Dukes of Hazzard, etc.) ... haha. That surprised me because someone had posted over the weekend that they had seen WB cartoon dvd sets here.
The Poway store looked like it had been picked clean already ... all I found were a few Adventures of Superman S5/6, a couple of Murphy Brown Season 1 sets and a Flintstones box or two ... I think that was it. Hopefully, these stores will restock in the coming days.
Now the Sports Arena Big Lots ... that was a complete goldmine!!! They must have just put out their stock this morning because I found lots of the WB cartoon goodies and a few other things:
Flintstones S2,3,4,5
Lois & Clark S3
Adventures of Superman S2,5/6
Huckleberry Hound Vol.1
Tales From The Crypt 2-5
Wacky Races
Pebbles and Bamm Bamm Show Complete
Larry King Interviews
Superman/Batman: The Animated Series Vol. 1 Combo Pack
Dastardly & Muttley
Top Cat
Penelope Complete (sorry, I forget the complete title)
Popeye Vol. 1 (they had dozens of these!)
None of the $10 boxes to be found.
Hopefully, the WB dvd box set drought is finally coming to an end here in San Diego!

Re: Big Lots Part 5
Decided to take a chance tonight and look for those $3 sets at the Aston, PA location and i was happy to have found one The Larry King Interviews. No Tales From The Crypt seasons though sadly. I asked a worker there if anymore sets were in the back and she said "No, whatever is out is what we got" So i'm assuming the Aston location did not receive tales or most of the other $3 sets mentioned in this thread unless these will be in the upcoming ad and they'll have them then. One thing i can tell you all is i plan on never going to a big lots close to closing time because as some have mentioned already regarding other big lot customers there was alot of trashy people in there tonight. During the day it's nice and normal but tonight was bad. However though their display was very restocked but more with movies then box sets. I picked up these regular $3 movies tonight..

Was there a picture of a Tales From The Crypt season in the ad for this sunday? What did they say to you when you asked about when they are supposed to be out when some are already put out?
Thanks!

I know the feeling all too well ... I may have just found some dvd treasures, but looking at some of the other "interesting" people in the store is enough to send me into a deep depression ... haha.

I wish you luck. I'm on the evening shift. Thanks for the update!
I grabbed some Slim Jims and a Diet Coke the last time that I was in... Tasty. Sounds like the same restock that Eastland had on Friday.
