I was able to use it a couple days ago. As long as they don't read everything in the text and let it sink in, then there's no problem. There is a sent date on the screen and the text says good for 7 days, so IF THEY READ the full message they can decline to input the code. The code still works.

Also, with the new mystery coupons, as I just found out in store, they are excluding in store magazine purchases. Well, there goes 90% of my Barnes and Noble shopping, it sure better not be a new thing for all of their coupons!

That's because I somehow managed to give a wrong code, sorry. The right one is 3K6KATV48RV63.

Thanks for confirming that. I feared as much, but... Is this the end of generic discounts, then, or might there still be some general coupons? Having signed up for e-mails on several occasions (and the link to do so now seems not to work), I've never once got a coupon sent directly.

There are still generic coupons, but unfortunately B&N has issued fewer of them this year. So far the unique coded coupons have primarily been used with the surprise coupon promotion. B&N quickly learned the generic coupons were a bad idea with the offer since it wasn't too hard to figure out the values to find the 50% coupons.

Next week should get a new 20% member and 15% non-member coupon from B&N. These should be regular coupons. Also there are some new 20% and 15% member coupons that were mailed out recently. I was hoping to get the online codes to post since not everyone receives them, but so far no one seems to have leaked any of the coupon codes.

Both. It was the surprise code thing. Debating whether I should use it on some DC Absolute editions that qualify for the B2G1 promotion.

I tried the 15% off code with VISA card use and it said "expired". I was hoping to use it on Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. BN's price is $21.28, which is $2+ cheaper than Amazon.

BN is having Buy 2 Get 1 Free on DC Comics trades. DC has a format known as "Absolute Editions" where the book is extremely oversized (I think they're over a foot tall and about 8 or 9 inches wide). These usually just collect well known classic runs, not only for the story content but for the art (hence why the format is so large). Many of these Absolute editions qualify for the B2G1. And the B2G1 stacked with the "surprise" coupon from this past weekend, of which I had a 30% off coupon. The even better thing is apparently some pre-orders qualified for the B2G1, including upcoming Absolute Edition pre-orders.

I ended up ordering Absolute Batman The Long Halloween, Absolute Batman Dark Victory, and pre-ordering Absolute Batman and Robin: Batman Reborn. My 30% off applied on the most expensive book, Dark Victory. Long Halloween was free. And Batman and Robin is locked in as a pre-order to ship in January. After taxes, my average price per book ended up being about $38, which is a pretty significant savings on these books which run anywhere from $50 to $100 new. For those particular books, it was almost a 40% off discount. I was going to get Absolute Watchmen, but BN had it at $75, so even after discount it wasn't a great deal seeing how I've seen new and like new copies go for between $30-40 on eBay.

Removed it from the list. Probably there is a new Buzz coupon around. Did anyone get the latest online Buzz coupon?

Also looking for possible online member coupon codes sent in the mail recently. Anyone get the 20% or 15% codes they can share? If they are 7 character codes they are generic coupons anyone with a membership can use.

Well at least I have several new coupons to add this morning. Here are some new store coupons. Also have online codes added to the first page. They were already active when I tested them this morning.

My latest Buzz (8/19) was an in-store coupon for 15% off: 504151.

My mailed coupons were for 15%, but they are the longer unique codes.

Thanks for information. Well that explains why I couldn't find the codes. Also means one less source for coupons in the future if they have gone to unique codes now.

Ugh. If they move all (or most) of the coupons over to unique codes, that means they won't be getting a membership renewal from me, since I can't get them to send me coupons directly.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The 40 percent off bd sale is active online. Is the 5 off 50 coupon, the only online one?

I think they are blocking cupons as they work on books on my cart but not discounted BD's. The new 20 percent posted worked on a book.

504071 is another 15% buzz coupon I got on the 23rd. I'll have the cashier try both 504071 or 504151 if they cannot get the 20% off unique coupons I received in the mail to work. I could wait until the 30th to try the generic 20% off coupon, but this is getting ridiculous.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I wonder if that 20% coupon above will work in-store once it goes live. If so, I will pick up Quadrophenia now, instead of waiting until November.

$23.99
x .90 member discount
$21.59
x .80 coupon
$17.27

not too shabby.....

You could try the $8 off $40 coupon too. Technically it shouldn't work, but worst that could happen is they say no.

(($39.99 * 0.60 * 0.90) - $8) = $13.59 plus sales tax.

Why not? Is stacking not allowed?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

So what exactly is meant by a "promotional discount" anyway? Is it just Barnes-and-Noble-speak for "sale" (as in the current 40% sale) or is it something else?

It's out of stock online, and at all 3 of my stores.
