Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Criterions, Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc.
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

Return period is 14 days after delivery though possibly it's 30 days now for most people though there is a discrepancy b/w the receipt and website.
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept

Single Item 15% OFF, but should be reusable in different transaction and if the Clerks will scan it more than once.

I'm not so sure. If you read the post above by Louisville S he says the mystery coupon worked on a non sale item but not on the on-sale Criterion. We'll know for sure when the next batch arrives but right now I still subscribe to my theory coupons are being blocked on sale items. On the plus side, the regular coupons have an amount on them so it's easy for the clerk to override. You can't do that when there's no amount listed.

FYI, both used (not by me) by members/lurkers who did not bother to post.

I was able to use both an $8/40 and $5/50 on the Lean/Coward and Traffic Blu.

YMMV, I know, but given that the Coward set was above $40 after the discount and my total after all discounts was above $50, I was actually expecting (perhaps foolishly) both coupons to work properly.

Well, I was planning on making a trip to B&N today but didn't receive a single coupon. So, Walmart ended up getting my business instead.

B&N really needs to get their email system straightened out.

Shame that B&N is blocking the coupons now. Basically gives me no reason to ever buy from them again at this point. I might as well wait til amazon price matches and buy it from them.

This is the beginning of the end, or this may be the end, haha.

Did coupons work for any period of the last sale? Wondering if I should spend the gift cards I bought from Plastic Jungle right now or wait for the November sale in the hope that some coupons will work then.

My shopping in the sale basically finished minutes after it started because of this. Fortunately, I was able to grab some titles in the first minutes at B2G1F but would likely have bought a few more that I normally wouldn't in stores with a coupon but this basically ends that. I likely won't even bother going by a B&N which I always did several times a week during the sales of the past and I almost always bought something else along with a movie or two when I did stop by.

I used a coupon on all of the 15 or so Criterions I bought during the last sale.

I used about 50 B&N coupons on Criterions over the past few years. This sale has been particularly restrictive so far....B2G1 overlap notwithstanding!

Online?

Do the ecodes work in store? I have a gift card number a pin. If you try to buy one from bn.com it says it works in store but I'm not sure...there's no barcode.

I wouldn't be so hasty. Your experiences may not be the same as someone else's. There are reports of clerks overriding and giving a discount, some in excess of the coupon. Check the Criterion discussion in the Blu-ray forum. Go in with a positive, friendly attitude, treat the clerk with respect and you never know what you might get. I think Lasermovies has a point about these mystery coupons. After some thought I remember having trouble with them last time.
Even if you can't get the mystery coupon to work I'm guessing there will be others with an actual value shown sometime soon. Those are easy for the clerk to override. If they release some next week I guarantee I'll use one or more in stores on Criterion.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Well, the problem is that my Criterion purchases from this point on will be blind buys and I'm not sure if I want to hassle with hoping that I get a coupon to work on top of buying a title blindly. I might stop by a store tomorrow as I will be close to one so we shall see.

Hell it'd be nice to some of us, if we'd even get mystery coupons. Seems a lot of people aren't even getting the opportunity to try them.

I got one on my email account but my wife, who is the actual member, hasn't received one.

There have been online coupon restrictions in the past with the Criterion sale, but the last couple of sales have been wide open. Since there is still a long way to go with this one I would hold onto your gift cards for a while to see what happens. You can always put in some last minute orders before the sale ends.

I would have to wade back through a lot of posts to verify it but I thought the last round of surprise coupons B&N temporarily added coupon restrictions on items with larger percentage discounts. After the coupons expired the restrictions dropped off. That could be the case here since the restrictions seem to have started shortly after the coupons were sent out this morning.

I didn't get any coupons with my member account either. It has been months since I've last received one. In fact over the last few years it has been an ongoing battle with B&N to try to keep receiving emails and coupons on my member account. B&N has stopped my emails three different occasions now after several times I managed to get them restored. I believe someone at B&N is intentionally doing it for some reason.

Lo & Behold, I have been given a copupon code on one of my older, dormant accounts, albeit a lousy 15% one:
FZZEYYMBZ66SF
For the first to claim it. Please don't be a pinhead & use the coupon without reporting back.

Carry on.

I still have two 15% coupons I've been trying to give away. If you want one ask.

Very simple. Add something to your cart that is eligible with coupons. Obviously avoid Criterions and anything else on sale. Go through the checkout process and copy the coupon code into the coupon box. Submit the code to see the discount.

I tried it to see if I could apply it to an order and it wouldn't let me.

Union Sq has been a hit or miss depending on who you get. There is another one further downtown that is nicer, but a bit a trek if you aren't around the area.

Oh and don't even bother with midtown 5th Ave store.

How's the one on the Upper East Side on Lex? I was going to try the 5th Ave store but not after what you said. Which downtown store?

Tribeca. Never been to the Lex one. 5th Ave threw the book at me. LOL You can try ..maybe they have someone more lenient now. I just don't bother anymore.

They know you are running the DVDtalk B&N thread! They've been watching you!

I found two email accounts where I have been receiving B&N emails as recently as two weeks ago, but didn't get this. I also found 3 accounts where I received the "welcome" email after signing up for the emails again earlier this year, but never received anything after that.

Yeah, 5th avenue is the strictest. I have never been to the Tribeca store. The Citicorp and 86th st stores have been hit and miss during the last couple of sales which is why I frequented the Union Square store. But now that they have added sarcasm to their denials, I will not be going there anymore.

Maybe I will check the Tribeca store then.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Gotta love a little sarcasm from someone wanting to sell you something. I'm going to give the one 15% off coupon I have a shot today in store and if it doesn't work or if I get a sarcastic denial then that will likely be it. We only have two B&M stores where I live so there is not much of an opportunity to search for someone else to use the coupon with. It seems like the last sale I went to I saw the same 2-3 people working at both stores each time I went to them.
