Ok, so I'll have to use my algorithms skills from college to run knapsack on this to optimize my use of coupons. Just great B&N.

Usually I just use a second gift card to finish it. There's like a few cents left or something. I might have to go to a store, buy some junk using each Groupon, return them, get one big giftcard and use it online.

I bought a Walking Dead Omnibus Volume 3s Signed and numbered with Groupons online with pay by phone when it was available and one in store preorder. Neither shipped, and they were supposed to today. Anyone else have things just not ship on the date stated? I don't have the unable to process statement. It merely says not yet shipped.

Yeah... Read the previous page of this thread. We're all complaining about that. At least on my order it was followed by an email stating my order had been sent to Security Review.

How would this work? Let's say you buy 2 things close to $20 (each) and return them. Wouldn't it be 2 gc worth close to $40? I guess what I'm asking is would they let you combine 2 gc into one large gc?

Oh yeah, my update: Friday order using 3 groupons got flagged and I'm in the dreaded security review stage like the rest of you.

illennium: I've heard of that problem on slickdeals. I suggest just using up the damn thing and returning if it comes to that (and it might).

To add to the headaches, I have several (not yet sure how many) Groupons that are coming up as fully used even though I have not used them. Anyone else have this problem? Not looking forward to trying to resolve this.

Yeah, that's what people on SD reported. You can get them combined when you do a return.

Black Swan was cancelled for me earlier today and now the gift card I used is showing $0. What a clusterfuck. I hate BN so much sometimes. If the amount doesn't change by tomorrow I'm going to have to call their normally very unhelpful customer service line.

Yup, like some of you, I got the dreaded Security Review email for one of my orders. The funny thing is, it was the FIRST of my four orders, and probably the least important of them all. Two of the remaining three orders have shipped. The one flagged had two GC's used. I never used more than two on an order.

Maybe that's just their way of canceling your $20 Groupon GC and refunding you your $10.

Funny you should mention Black Swan. For the last 2 days, I've been trying to cancel that and called CS 2 times. They've assured me that I would get a cancelation notice and funds would be returned back to gc within 24-48 hours. Still no cancellation email or returning of funds.

Has anyone used a groupon as partial payment to get or renew a membership?

The membership renewal page makes it look like this will be charged only to the card on file.

I don't get how BN can void people's groupons. Even if it was intended to be purchased 1 per person, Groupon allows people to purchase groupon codes for other people as gifts. So it is not impossible for people to have more than 1 code legitimately.

What the hell are they thinking? It is one thing to cancel orders that use more than 1 code, but to void them after that is a f'n joke.

When I first saw it I was wondering if it had something to do with the groupons. I believe now it might have something to do with my membership expiring at the end of January. I noticed B&N has been trying to be nice to me the last few weeks. First several weeks ago they sent a bunch of coupons in the mail to use either online or at stores. Then when my membership was due to expire I got a one week extension to use it online. Finally the day after my membership actually expires I get the email for the gift card. I purchased a lot of stuff last year and they probably want to make sure I keep my membership.

If I renew my membership I was going to try renewing with a groupon. I was reading the fine print and it said you could use a groupon as payment for a B&N membership. Here is a snippet from the terms I copied below about it.

My Black Swan was canceled over the weekend too. Yesterday I had the $18.xx put back on a GC (The order originally had a $1.xx charge to my CC).

Just an FYI on Black Swan DVD and BD releases: it's been screwed up in their system even before the Groupon explosion.

They have coded in their system as a "Special Order" and not a pre-order (Fox still has sent the release date to retailers), that's also why coupons work on it, whereas pre-orders generally don't qualify for BN coupons.

When it gets sent the warehouse it's being flagged as never being released or unobtainable, therefore they won't fulfill the "Special Order" and cancel it outright.

That's a smart idea! I just might do that with my one remaining groupon...

I can't find the thread on SlickDeals - I don't know how that site is organized and my searches for "barnes" and "groupon" don't bring it up. Do you know how people there are dealing with this issue? I'm not sure whether to call Groupon or Barnes & Noble.

Were these Groupon under the same account name?
After reading your post, I decided to check my GC balance, and a card which on Saturday had $20.00, now has $0.
I had not used the card.
I noticed it was the 2nd card, I bought using the same account name, so BN must have decided to void the card.
Now to find out if my credit card will get refunded, or if they'll simply put $10 on a different gift card.

Yes, I purchased all of my Groupons using the same account. A refund will be fine, but somehow I think this is going to be a pain in the ass.

Edit: Yep, looks like B&N voided all of my remaining Groupons (10-12 in all). I guess I will call them.

My only remaining Groupon GC still has $20 on it. There was only one account where I purchased two GC's, and one of those two was used on the order that is going through a security review. The rest I did on separate accounts. Has anyone had Groupons canceled that used separate accounts, or is it only people that purchased multiple using one groupon account?

There should be a new 20% membership renewal coupon coming soon. That would be a good time to use it. I'm probably going to hold off renewing for a another month since I just started a free membership trial with a spare account. I was going to wait for the February coupon but I wanted to get the latest Columbo movie collection while it was 40% off. I figure I might as well get the most out of the free trial while I have it.

I want to order Tamara Drew (BD), but for some reason it's showing up as "Available in 1 to 2 weeks", so I wonder if there is some kind of filing error there as well.

BTW, all 5 of my first groupon orders (across 3 different B&N.com accounts) seem to have shipped out. I only used on GC on each order. My shopping list till 4/10 is long so I can afford to spread them out 1 per order.

Also- they just sent a nook related survey with a 15% off coupon at the end of it.

I did all my groupon purchases with separate accounts and my remaining unused groupons are still valid. I've used three so far and have not had any problems, but I have used them all on separate orders. I plan on using one at a time. I might use a few at stores and spread a few over several accounts to be less conspicuous to B&N.

just checked and the survey coupon code is the same as the non-member 15% off code (B7C3R9C), but it states it's valid till 2/20 (instead of 2/15).

I could have sworn I also read in the eligibility requirements that it was specific to the email address the survey is sent to, but it sure doesn't seem to be.
