I picked up the Twin Peaks series in-store via ship-to-home and was very happy to use the online code for the newly updated Up Series set (all 6 films) for $39 shipped.

That is very interesting, because I successfully used it over the phone today. I got Doctor Who S3 for $33.78 shipped... But you can't let them use your existing internet account (my friend was shot down when he tried this). If they use your existing account, they will see that you already used the coupon. You want them to place the order without using ANY permament account. I told them that I have been a victim of fraud because an online site was hacked, so I did not want an account created...

As for being instructed not to use that coupon over the phone, it apparently wasn't spread to all of the operators. I placed my order 45 minutes before they closed for the day.

Ordered Ford at Fox with the 50% coupon. Had to purchase a membership but it looks like it pretty well paid for itself.

I feel a little guilty maybe, but I was able to use two different in-store coupons today. I drive right by two B&Ns on the way home from work, so stopped at both.

I am a bit lacking in my classics library, so I picked up the John Wayne John Ford Collection at one store, $79.99 down to $32.39, so I got the 60% off (or technically, 10% off and then 50%, so 55%, right? But it works out to 59.5% off somehow.).

At the other store I bought the Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland Collection, $49.99 marked down to $20.24.

The coupon has wording that it expires at like 0230 on the 12th. so technically, it is expired already.

Anyone know if it will still work today?

I may buy another membership and get that Andy Griffith set.

If no one knows for sure, I will just try it later today and report back.

I have never seen a B&N coupon work beyond its expiration. I suspect it will not work...

I was just about to submit a post with a bunch of links to some high priced sets at 15% off before the coupon.

But you're right, I'm sure it is expired.

I have enough TV sets to last at least 50 years of viewing anyway.

A little late for this now, but I just printed out the small print for the online coupon and brought it into the store. I told it says right on the coupon it can be used once in the store and once online. I used it for Seinfeld complete series in store and king of queens complete series online.

I haven't put my TV collection into DVDspot yet, but it is somewhat similar to yours, although probably at least twice as large.

I sometimes wish I didn't have the collector gene or disease or whatever it is. I mean, I love movies, and TV, and honestly want to watch everything that I buy, multiple times even. But that is physically impossible, unless I live to be 130 and stop buying now.

And even though I know I will never have time to watch them all, if that coupon was still active, I would buy another membership or three and buy the complete Combat, Andy Griffith Show, and Prisoner right now.

I'm sick.

There was discussion of this earlier in the thread, too...

It might be best to start a fresh thread for Barnes and Noble coupons - this one has gotten a bit unwieldy due to the 50% coupon talk - what do you think? And thanks to the OP for that coupon and to all who provided suggestions!

I'm sick.
Me too. It's horrible and makes no sense. I have a room jammed with DVDs, many of which I know I will never watch. Basically, if it's something I would LIKE to one day see again if I lived forever, it's up there. Is there any shot I'll be re-watching every episode of That 70s Show? No.

And it actually causes stress! I sit in that room surrounded by stuff and am just reminded of all the thing I'll never get to see. Back in the laserdisc days, I used to get a disc and go through everything on it. That was when commentaries were few and far between and each one was special. Now, I don't have time to listen to any and there are so many I'd like to listen to.

It gets worse since my other hobby is video games and the same sickness applies there...

I've got a cart full of stuff at DDD that I had resisted thus far. All stuff that will go on a shelf and never be seen again... it's like a form of OCD...

I've actually "improved" to the point where I put anything I think I'll never watch again in an ebay box, now three boxes possibly. I don't sell them as quickly as I should, but putting them in that box is a start at least.

I was like that in my early days with DVD. I would go thru and watch everything, each commentary track, even the filmographies and production art.

Same here. Video games, CDs, comics.....

Back on topic, thanks again to the OP for maintaining this thread and the magic 50% OP as well.

I am quite happy with the results of the 50% off promotion. I already used it online to purchase Ken Burns "The War" for just under $40 shipped. Last night I brought in the print out that listed both the online and in-store codes and was able to purchase MST3K volume 12 (retail $60) at the online price ($50.99) before discounts. It'll be shipped to my home for just under $25.

Thanks to the OP for the 50% off coupon, but in the future, this kind of massive discount ALWAYS deserves it's own thread.

Anyone notice how the price of the Seinfeld set dropped right after the 50% coupon expired?
as of today:
# $283.95 List price
# $198.76 Online price (Save 30%)
# $178.88 Member price

well at least I got it for cheaper, but still would have liked to get it off the new price listed......
