I'll keep an eye out for that one...my local Ross stores haven't had much of interest lately, just yoga, belly dance and Christian propaganda DVDs.

I just noticed you can get the gangster set 3 cheaper through the amazon marketplace fulfilled by amazon. Or even cheaper in the marketplace fulfilled by the sellers.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I've mentioned before I have access to wholesale lists of Canadian Warner dumps. $24.50 is a rip off right now. Middleman (the person who sells to retailers who are too small to order direct from the Canadian liquidator) wholesale is $12.99 -$15.99 + shipping. Ross is likely buying from the main Canadian source. While I haven't seen one of the Canadian master lists in a couple months, Ross's cost is likely well under $10 USD per box.

Is Joey Season Two (Canada only release) on the list? It's OOP now and dealers are asking a really high price for it. I've been keeping an eye out for it since picking up season one @ Big Lots.

Warning: The following is not Ross specific, so is technically way OT.

No i haven't seen that one. There was a new master list out today. (in general, prices are up (lame US Dollar?), quality of titles are down. I know a ton of the gangster boxes & Errol Flynn boxes were dumped with the last batch. There were a few more decent boxes in the last batch still running around.

I need to be careful what i say publically, but here's what i consider highlight titles from the July August dump, followed by the new dump:

MARTIN SCORCESE COLLECTION, THE [VOL.2] 2 [THE WILD BUNCH / PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID / RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY / THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE)[4 DVD]

There were also Hammer horror box sets until very recently. I suspect there's still plenty of them at retail.

Hope that helps!

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I finally found some new stuff at Ross. I can't remember all of them.

Clerks X (Three-Disc 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition) Canadian version that has different cover art than American version $7.99.

The Gambler 30th Anniversary edition contains The Gambler, the Gambler: The Adventure Continues and a Kenny Rogers greatest hits CD $4.99

Also some recent titles like The Fighter for $5.99.

Wow, great list, Moo! I was actually going to ask if you could post some of the titles you've seen, but wasn't sure how much you could disclose in a public forum.

I hope these things start hitting the Amazon Marketplace and maybe even Big Lots, though I won't hold my breath for the latter. I also have to wonder if the WB Shop will start moving these cheap for Black Friday as they did last year for certain box sets that seemed to be on closeout.

Glen, Ross is opening a new store in Niles real soon and they just opened the HH Gregg store on Touhy Avenue this week.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

MooMoo, which Errol Flynn box is it? Is it Volume 1 or 2?

Either one I'm getting, but I hear his stronger works are in the former.

In addition to Ross, I expect most will end up on Amazon, Ebay, buy.com, etc. The wholesale is likely too high for Big Lots.

Here's the Hammer Horror Box, as low as $14.49.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I found the Wizard of Oz - 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD set for $29.99 at a Ross store by me. Granted I would have preferred Blu-ray but for that price, I can pick up the single disc Blu-ray Disc since most of the extras, save for the "Sing Along" are SD only anyway.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Is there really any significant improvement between this WOO & the "Three-Disc Collector's Edition" that Ross had last year (& I bought)?

That is a great deal on that set. These stores are supposed to be opening around here (IL) next month.

The following are all-new for the 70th Anniversary releases:

> Remastered video from a 4k master that was created from 8k restored negatives. BD: 1080p, DVD: 480p (NTSC)/576p (PAL).
> 5.1 audio mix presented in Dolby TrueHD (BD) and Dolby Digital (DVD).
> Sing-along Track
> Victor Fleming: Master Craftsman (BD & DVD: SD)
> L. Frank Baum: The Man Behind the Curtain (BD & DVD: SD)
> Celebrating Hollywood’s Biggest Little Stars (BD & DVD: SD)
> The Dreamer of Oz (BD & DVD: SD)
> The Magic Cloak of Oz (BD & DVD: SD)
> The Patchwork Girl of Oz (BD & DVD: SD)

The extras from the previous special edition DVDs were ported over so there is nothing of major importance missing in the 70th AE.

The box set I got also adds:

> Digital Copy of the Film (DVD-Rom)
> Collectible and numbered watch with genuine crystals
> Replica of the original film budget
> Behind the Curtain, A 52-page, coffee-table book
> Reproduction of the original 1939 campaign book

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Funny (but sad) story about seeing a blu-ray Wizard of Oz collector's set at my local Ross. A little girl had opened it and was rummaging through the contents.... Now I know why things at Ross are always busted up.
