Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Yesterday at the Ross on E. Col. and Bumby ( Orlando ), I got...

White Sands ( WIDEscreen - Willem Dafoe - Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio - Mickey Rourke - Samuel L. Jackson - M. Emmet Walsh - Maura Tierney )

Dark City Director's Cut ( WIDEscreen - Alex Proyas - Rufus Sewell - Jennifer Connelly - William Hurt - Kiefer Sutherland )

Both of these were $3.99 each.

Also saw many BLU-RAY movies for $9.99 / $7.99 / $6.99 and $5.99 each.

One day there's lots of DVDs, and the next day it will be almost empty.

This is disgusting and hilarous. I can't stop laughing.

Also, anyone seen the Casblanca sets recently?

Funny you should ask...while I was on my lunch break I wandered over to the Ross next to where I work and as I walked through the door a kid was projectile vomiting at the return counter. Taking this as the evil omen it so obviously was, I left immediately and went on to lunch.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I saw the Superman tin for $24.99 in Santa Cruz (marked down). They also had the Lucille Ball box set for only $13.99! Didn't grab it as I already had the movie I would've wanted out of it. I finally scored a Casablanca blu-ray at that location, though.

I found the LOTR BD set today, but it wasn't the Australian version, it was the Canadian version (English/ French packaging, Canadian movie rating logo on back).

Today I found:

Rio Bravo: Ultimate Collector's Edition for $7.99
The Batman S2 (UPC slashed) for $4.99
The Life Of Riley (Jackie Gleason TV show, 26 episodes) for $4.99

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Heard they will be opening some ROSS stores here in Illinois this fall, so looking forward to venturing in there and seeing what they have. Been to a few in OKC but nothing really stood out at the time.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I found a copy of LOTR: Two Towers 2-disc Limited Edition for $4.99 at the one here in Durham, NC. Also saw a few Blu-ray copies of Get Smart, Four Christmases and the Alliance release of the LOTR trilogy.

I would love to find the other two LEs of the trilogy.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

The Burbank store has virtually no DVDs left, very small selection. But what they do have is 4 copies of the Lucille Ball Collection for 23.99 and 4 copies of the Superman tin for 39.99 and tons of the twilight steelbook.

The two stores I frequent are empty also. They haven't had a restock in about six weeks. They have had the same $6.99 blu-rays, Lord of the Rings trilogy blu-ray, Super Mario DVDS, and other old titles sitting on the rack for that time. I'm expecting a huge new restock but it never seems to come.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I'm glad to hear it's not just my Ross stores that are almost empty of DVDs and BDs. I went to 2 this last week and I was in and out of the store in a couple minutes as there was nothing to see ("please disperse... nothing to see here"). It took me longer to walk back and forth from the front of the store to the movie shelves than it took to look at all of the titles on the shelves. I wondered to myself if Ross is getting out of the DVD/BD business.

I'm definitely not going to waste my time going back into a Ross store looking for movies until I see some posts on DVD Talk that their shelves have been restocked since this seems to be a nationwide dearth.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

If they don't sell after awhile, Ross reduces the price on sets. I'll watch and see if it happens with that.
