I hope these show up somewhere around me. No Ross stores.
FYI, I bought one of these at the York, PA store (east York) on Saturday. I've learned from experience that Paramount is notoriously cheap on re-releases, but from the packaging, convinced myself the contents must be equally fancy. I missed the 2009 copyright in small print. Inside was an eco box containing two non-picture DVD's. There is also a 6-inch cut mark down the front of the jacket, which I also didn't notice. None of this is necessarily a deal breaker for a $5 double DVD in elaborate packaging, but I though everyone should know. As far as I'm concerned, Paramount has screwed me yet again.

FYI #2: The Lancaster, PA Ross store doesn't look like they've received new DVD's in months.

I stopped in at the Torrance, CA store on Hawthorne (a bit south of 190th) and found many of the ones mentioned here (Shakespeare, Lucille Ball, Rio Bravo and at least one of the Gangsters). Also saw Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu-Ray for $30.00.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I rarely go into my Ross store (which is next to Staples where I usually go once a week) because they also haven't gotten anything new in months. I finally ventured in their last week for a couple minutes and their DVD section was down to 3 rows of 1 side of their 2 sided rack. In the good old days, both sides were filled top to bottom. It sounds like a few stores are getting them but Ross has definitely dried up as a place to get cheap movies.

Speaking of drying up, I finally went into TJ Maxx and they used to have a rack of DVDs, but now they only had about 10 titles on 2 tiny endcaps. When it comes to cheap DVDs, Big Lots is pretty much the only one left. My Big Lots stores have a decent selection, but it's the same old stuff, and they never got any of the Disney titles I wanted that other people talked about. :-(

So I'll go into Ross and TJ Maxx in a few more months to see if they are down to 0 DVDs by then. They've obviously decided (at least at my stores) that selling cheap movies is a low priority and not a money maker for them.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Went to the Torrance, CA store on PCH and found:

The Mob Box Set (Donnie Brasco / Snatch / Bugsy / The American Gangster) (2001)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Collector's Edition Boxed Set) (1975)
The Naked Gun DVD Gift Set (1991) (with all 3 movies)
Extreme Chan Action Pack: First Strike / Mr. Nice Guy / Rumble In The Bronx
How the West Was Won (Ultimate Collector's Edition) (2008) [but this copy was opened]

Also saw a John Wayne 6 movie set, Frank Sinatra 5 movie set, and WWII 3 movie set, but don't recall any more details on those.

Tacoma, Wa actually got new stock. I bought Sabrina (Bogart/A Hepburn) for $3.99 Only other new item worth mentioning is Bay Toons 4 dvd box for $21.99. I don't know much about it, I assume it's for pre schoolers. It's Tweety, Bugs, etc as youngsters.

I bought it some where in the last year, don't remember where! It was likely an impulse buy at a store. One of these days I'll even have the time to watch it!

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I still need gangsters 1 & 3. If 3 was to drop to $16.99 here, I'd probably bite. $23.99 is a bit too high for my wallet.

MMMM,
I was at the Morrow GA store on the 28th, and V 3 was the only box set(out of the 4 recent WB sets) to come down to $16.99!(well, Sinatra set was $16.99 but started at that price) Now, is that company wide, or not, one way to find out, if it's still there!

Picked up season 2 & 3 of the Meerkat Manor for $3.99 each today. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 copies they had in store had floaters.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I want to say it's $4.95 or so.

Saw on Tuesday, "The Other Side" which surprised me, this is an independent DVD release.

We all have movies that we champion, this is one of mine.

This was the film Gregg Bishop made before directing, "Dance Of The Dead" (Ghost House Underground); made with maxed out credit cards, $15,000 worth.

Indulge me (I'll make it brief)...

It's a feature you probably never heard of.

A guy is killed while setting up a romantic encounter in the woods for his high school sweetheart. He ends up in Hell. His arrival happens during a rupture, a prison break. He is pulled in with escapees back to the world of the living. Since he died hours ago, he wakes up in his old body, the rest inhabit the fresh corpses in the morgue. They now run, Reapers have been dispatched; think Terminators, they have zero dialog - they don't need it. Three questions. Who killed him? Why was he in Hell? Where's his girlfriend? Smart, funny and action packed, a good deal for five or so dollars. Highly recommended. The DVD is a special edition.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Just bought The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Series for $24.99 at the Bayshore Mall Ross (in Eureka, California). It was the only copy.
They had Meerkat Manor Season 2 for $3.99 (last week, they also had some copies of season 3) and like CaseyB posted above, most of them had floaters.
They also had Troy (Director's Cut Ultimate Collector's Edition) for $9.99, I Am Legend (Ultimate Collector's Edition) for $11.99 and
Sex and the City: The Movie (The Wedding Collection Ultimate Collector's Edition) for $14.99.
