Does your "ATM" card have a VISA/MC/other major credit card logo on it? I have a card that I got from the bank when I opened my checking account and it can be used as a credit card or to take cash out of an ATM. The bank you got your account at is sucky if they don't have credit and debit card as an option. Try a new bank.
I was told your credit card must not be associated with your checking account (I have a Visa check card from WaMu, and they would not accept). But hey, took my mom in one last time into blockbuster and she signed the trade agreement form and added my name so its all good. First day sold $80 worth of dvds; second day sold $136 worth of dvds; total $216....whooo!!!!

btw: first post, hello all!

Not to say things won't change from region to region, but I have an account opened on a debit card (that is obviously linked to a checking account).

Crap. It seems that the HI BBVs aren't participating in this. If any HI peeps know of anything to the contrary, please post!

Hmmm.
Yes there is a BBV in Seneca, and yes I go to the one in Clemson every now and then as well. Neither one has a GameRush though, but they do accept game trade-ins though.

Well after trading in seven (7) of the eight (8) titles I originally walked in with on Tuesday, I used some of my 'value credit' last night for Aladdin ($22 [even though the sticker read $30]) and Shawshank Redemption ($20). I did not like spending $6 more on both titles, but I do have to use my 'credit' some how and its not coming out of my pocket at this very moment, so its a good thing. Too bad I now own something in my library that contains Jessica Simpson and Nick Lache.

Im going to go through my library tonight and tomorrow to see if there is anymore 'fat' that might lead me to a Gamecube or Xbox. The titles I traded in earlier were those that have had SEs or better editions released recently or will be released prior to the end of the year. I have looked through my library for anything else yet...

They gave me no problems. I whipped out my bank given card and it had the VISA logo and all was okay.

They took:
Good Girl
Cold Creek Manor
Pacific heights
Circle fo Friends
Freejack
boys on the side
Night shift
B5- in teh beginning
majestic
ladyhawke
capricorn one
brokedown palace
beach
basic instinct
tuck everlasting

Great way to get rid of so many bad (except b5) dvds.

They would not take Last Time I Saw Paris or my copy of Pearl Harbor (which for some reason has no UPC)

The tax was credited to my account and the rest to a gift card.

I have tried the Germantown, MD and the Frederick, MD BBV and they never heard of this. Anyone know where in MD, VA, PA, WV I can go?

I tried 5 stores around Baltimore/Towson area and a couple in Rockville. None of them participate. One of the clerk even told me no store in MD is participating for the trade in. Sigh!

Thanks to the orignal poster. I tried a couple of stores in Milwaukee and they both paid $8 minimum per DVD.

Went into my BB in the DFW Metro-plex and didn't have any problem receiving $8 per DVD. Two of the DVD's I had purchased from the BB and they had placed a sticker over the original UPC. It gave the cashier fits and she finally just scanned the first movie twice. Great deal. I definitely came out ahead on this one!

"Do the DVD's have to have bar codes on them?"

I traded 2 DVDs that were a 2-pack Dreamscape\Assault On Precinct 13. Neither one had a barcode. She just looked up the title and gave me $8 for both.

Score another successful story here in Houston/Pasadena TX.

I went down to the local Pwn Shop and bought a load of DVD's at $2.50 each. BBV took them all at $8 each.

Over $275 in store credit now and counting

They didn't take my old CD cased copy of Matilda and they didn't take my boxed set of the Encyclopedia of WWII.

By the way, can anyone confirm what is the minimum amount of credit for next gen games that you have seen??

I saw some people say $5-$7 while another said $10-$35

Let me know asap.

I tried calling the stores and asking if they can look it up and tell me but they said that they can't do that over the phone and that I would have to bring in the titles.

Just got $296 dollars for dvds that had so much dust on them from sitting on my shelf. Not bad but I do not know what to do with the credit.

Take your want list, write down the lowest price that can be found for each (online and other B&Ms). Take them to Blockbuster and if you cannot find them on the shelf go up to the employee and ask them to tell you the prices for special order.

There is bound to be some titles on your want list that are around the same price as other stores.

Well, traded in a buch of DVDs over the past few days and now have approx $560.00 in credit. Traded in some titles I would never watch again, some I had recently upgraded to anamorphic titles or that have a reissue soon, as well as some I can just consolidate in the future. For example, I traded in 8 Hitchcock Laserlight Titles for $8.00 each ($64.00) and then re-purchased the same ones in a special box set at Sams Club for $24.64. Worked out gtood since have the same titles and an additional $40 to boot. Also traded in the Spongebob individual releases (10 I think), as Season 2 is coming out in a few weeks, and Season 3 most definately will be out next year.

Since I will be traveling for my job over the next 3-4 months, I am in no rush to buy any new release movie titles, since I would rather wait and watch them on my 46" widescreen with 5.1 sound as opposed to laptop or 25 inch TV in hotel room. By waiting for the titles to go to PVD status at Blockbuster, I can pick them up with credit for 2 for $20 (or 3/$25 if they have that deal again).

This is getting better by the day. It looks like the average Joe finally has a place to unload DVDs. Most people aren't going to sell them or ebay, take them to Pawn Shops or CD Warehouse so we may all benefit. I picked up a "used" or PRV copy of Disney's OOP Pinocchio & the new version of Lion King 2 for $20. Both in mint shape with original packaging. Funny thing, BBV marked them $14.99 each but the 2 for $20 deal is everyday. Behind the counter I saw a used Disney Tin, Soprano's and Alias. Will be interesting to see what kind of price they put on those. If they put a "PRV" red sticker on them I guess I will have to argue for the 2 for $20.

Pawn Shops

I don't know of any pawn shops in my area. Anyone know of a way to find out pawn shop listings? I live in Michigan, suburban Detroit to be exact.

Thanks

Yellow Pages under Pawn Shops. Most are in shady areas so make sure you know the area which is why most close at dusk.
