Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
Legends fueled the most comic buying I ever did across a wide range of stuff. Then Millennium killed it. Well, along with various other reasons I have discussed before but all within a two year span. And just wait...Millennium is coming!
But for now, let us conclude the Legends reading event!

And funny you mention Mutant Massacre, Josh. Preview of what is coming next for our cover reading event order! Which includes Josh's favorite comic - POWER PACK!!!!

If you're doing Mutant Massacre next, Daredevil #238 was an unannounced tie-in. I think they include it in most of the omnibuses and tpbs of the event, though.

It is time for MUTANT MASSACRE!The Marauders attack the underground mutant community and kill hundreds of Morlocks before the X-Men and X-Factor teams arrive separately and fight them, avoiding the total slaughter of the Morlocks. The two teams however do not meet during the battle and suffer crippling losses.

Marvel really must have liked those DC ads... they used the basic format for Inferno a year or two later!

Now...hold your hats for the most underwhelming crossover that it still seems to never find some acknowledgement by anyone who worked at DC at the time - Millennium!
Aliens visit Earth to start the next wave of human evolution. Ten humans are chosen to advance and become immortals, given special powers. They are attacked by Manhunter agents, part of an alien conspiracy posing as close friends and relatives to every single superhero.

(^side note^ - I remember when these "new format" comics came out. I was so pissed. Jumped 50 cents or more for slicker paper. Yeah, I guess they had brighter colors but so many comics started coming out this way that the ever-increasing prices and crossovers were starting to really bug me. - ^speaking as a mostly broke teenager^)
