Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

^Just guessing here but I am going to guess that the "real" Batman would never harm any fish and him kicking the dude is letting the fish escape.

Or Batman is right-handed and would never lead a super-duper kung-fun karate kick with his left leg!

Spoiler...I looked it up and I was wrong on both accounts.

Next Reading Event:

Fall of the Mutants

The general public’s perception of mutants is as dangerous criminals with no regard for the law. A proposal for a “Mutant Registration Act”, in which mutants would be forced to register themselves with the government, as one would register a deadly weapon, is made.

I always loathed the art on that X-Factor run despite being huge fans of Cyclops and Jean Grey. The redesign of Angel worked, otherwise I hated how the original X-Men looked during their X-Factor days.

Was the costumes or Walter Simonson's art?

I've never been as huge a fan of Simonson as others.

Sometimes his stuff looks really good; other times it comes off rushed, sloppy, and unfinished. And, even at the best of times, it often felt harsh, angular, and stiff. Not sure if the problem with X-Factor was with the inks -- I think Wiacek did most of it, but the "Inferno" issues with Milgrom were particularly terrible -- though Milgrom seldom did anybody he inked any favors.

Both if I am being honest. I think your "angular" description is appropriate. I did hate the costumes as well. I gritted my way through most of the X-Factor run only because it was an X title which I felt I needed to have for completeness at the time. Those were the days I was picking up a majority of Marvel's mainstream output.

^(I still have my copy of this. When it was released, I bought it just for the cover alone but loved the art inside as well. It was like nothing I had really seen before and felt cartoony but fresh. Had no idea it was part of this storyline until now, but I never was a big X-Men/Mutant fan.)
