Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
Superboy really did have some of the wildest, weirdest covers and stories.
I always liked the ones where he would run into himself/Superman/Clark Kent due to his time traveling with the Legion or for some other strange reason given.

And also the NSFW Superboy cover!

Gil Kane's covers for Superboy were always strange to me as well because he could not draw him looking like a boy. He just looks like Superman.

Maybe the "Ex" Teen of Steel mention on this cover was a hint? Was he no longer a teen? I don't remember as I haven't read these stories since I bought them off the newsstand back in the early 80s.

Those old Silver Age Giants are so tough finding in nice condition, way harder than random issues. Kids clearly read and read them again, beating them up.

Did Frank Miller just quit trying?
I know we discussed that awful Wolverine cover a while back but jeez...

Yeah, a lot of Miller's recent work has been... odd... to say the least.
(That Spiderman above isn't terrible, though.)

A couple of them kind of work in an abstract art approach but you get the feeling he's only doing these covers for the pocket change.

7 years old vs. 47

Anyway, I would say this recent cover by Miller isn't terrible bit still looks lazy.

The Two-In-One issue with Doc Savage can't be reprinted because Marvel no longer has rights. The Epic Collection does have the last 1-2 pages because they lead into the story of following issue.
This issue will also be absent from any Team-Up omnibus or epic collection

Curiously, DC put out a TPB of the eight issues of Marvel's Doc Savage series. The covers are included with reference to Marvel blacked out.

Don't know if the magazine stuff has been reprinted

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
The 40s to the 60s was an interesting era of the original X-Men run.
You could really the get the sense that they were trying to make the title work for readers, and just throwing everything they could out there. Death of Professor X. Frankenstein. New costumers. Turning it into a sort of solo series with rotating leads, bringing in a new artists with funky styles (Steranko and Adams).
All told, it holds up pretty well for Silver Age experimentation.
