Ollie's is like stepping into a retail store from the 70s or 80s. It's actually a bit fun in that regard.
Ollie's Woonsocket is in the same location Building 19 used to be.

I'm actually about 20 minutes from the original Ollie's in Mechanicsburg, which was really run-down but recently relocated to a former PetSmart down the street. This probably makes it the newest looking of their stores around here but, yes, it still has that trademark Ollie's aesthetic.

Went to Ollie's in Woonsocket, didn't really see anything interesting other than this. I suppose if you're into the game it might be worth it.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

There’s been a dry spell of new graphic novels coming in since Ollie’s seems focused on spring. Hopefully there’s a good dump coming up again soon

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I might go over there this weekend- only 20mins away so I might as well, need my fix of cheap LARABARs anyways. Hopefully they got some more books (but I'm not expecting it).

Goddamnit Woonsocket. What are you doing? Someone just had their car stolen with their baby in the back seat.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

The locations I regularly check have more or less run dry of trade paperbacks and graphic novels outside of a few leftovers. They do have those $5 and $5.99 bags of older comics, which are wildly hit or miss. The ten-packs shamelessly throw in anything, including comics that were given away on Free Comics Day.

I was just over at the Woonsocket store again and saw nothing of interest, at least nothing classic. I saw an interesting Vertigo standalone but other than that nothing worth buying.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

The nearby Ollie's has been cleaned out for the most part by people who buy stuff to re-sell on eBay or flea markets. All the bagged books are gone and most of the TPBs in the store. Still, I was able to find Weirdworld: Warriors of the Shadow Realm TPB for $7.99 and Azrael: Fallen Angel Vol 1 for $3.99. The Weirdworld one has amazing art by John Buscema, Rudy Nebres, Mike Ploog and Pat Broderick.

I saw those two at the Woonsocket store. I was tempted to pick up the Weirdworld book but changed my mind.

Some new Marvel and DC trades appeared this week. Classic Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonder Woman Earth 2 Volume 2, Batman Wedding Album, etc.

I forgot to mention they had Spider-Man's Clone Saga trades for $6.99. I also saw two trades for older Cloak and Dagger runs.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My local Ollie's had copies of the Complete Fables Covers by James Jean hardcover for $10. They have a 15% email coupon to Ollie's members so it came out to $8.50. Not bad for a book that was originally $50.

I'd be interested in that. Anything Vertigo.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I think it was a mistake but a few months back I came across a sealed copy of Dave McKean's collected Sandman covers...at Dollar Tree. Easily the nicest book I've ever come across at Dollar Tree.

It's this hardcover -

Amazon Amazon

Probably not- Dollar Tree gets some interesting stuff sometimes. I saw some pretty decent PS4 games there once, that went for ~$15 on Amazon. I have so many unplayed games I decided it wasn't even worth the $1 for me.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I have a 15% off coupon good until the 13th so I guess I'll take another ride over.

Problem is I have a hard time not stocking up on junk food while I'm there.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My Ollie's is doing a little remodeling and thinned their graphic novel section down substantially.

I was happy to find a copy of James Jean's covers, which is all I really wanted anyway.
He has a lovely technique I'm looking forward to studying.
