Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

The big problem has been both Marvel and DC flooding the market with tps of forgettable 5 issue storylines from all of their books and then pricing it for $16.99 or $24.99, when anyone would go on their LCS or ebay and buy the single issues for $5-$10 on clearance.

Supposedly any trades with material older than 5 years old are likely going digital unless they are proven sellers. So no more chances on underserved comic runs.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I've been back to all the Ollie's that I had purchased from before and they still have the same stock. I don't think their stock is getting replenished.

Went to an Ollie's out of state and managed to get these:
Graphic Ink: The DC Comics Art of Frank Quitely $9.99
Batman Noir (Azzarello/Risso) $5.99

Those are definitely stock that has been hanging around. I picked them up months ago.

In Ollie's right now. 15% off everything this week. Graphic novel section is so disorganized I don't have the patience to sort through it.

The shelves usually start out okay but get messier and messier each week. Apparently once something is put out on the floor, employees are forbidden from reorganizing them.

Score!

I haven't checked those epics out since I have the IDW set- are those reformatted like the DH trades were?

From just a brief glimpse inside, the strips appear to be in the original format. If I am wrong, someone in the know will log in to correct my error.

Found The Big Book of Peanuts: All The Daily Strips From the 50s for $7.99 today. The copies had a few ink smudges but otherwise were in new condition.

The newspaper epics are in-fact reprints of the Dark Horse re-formatted comics. The exception is that they include a couple stories that Dark Horse never did, so those are probably in their original format.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Anyone seen Volume 2 of the newspaper strips at their Ollie's? I went today and got Volume 1 but didn't see volume 2. And almost all of the volume ones were gone. Tons of the other newer Star Wars reprints/graphic novels though.

Apparently this is what Ollie's is advertising this week. They've picked up $175,000 in Star Wars trades, much like earlier DC/Marvel inventory dumps. So expect all locations to be filled with them for months.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I picked up some of their new 5 random Marvel/DC comic bags for $5 that they are selling and what surprised me the most is of how recent some of the Marvel stuff in the bags is. For example, in one of the bags I picked included Immortal Hulk 23, that was released less than 4 months ago. The DC stuff is all over the place, with things from the 80's, 90's, 2000's, but the Marvel stuff seems to be fairly recent books, with the exceptions of some random book here and there from the past 30 years.

Whenever I check out those bags of comics at Ollie's, animals have already opened them up, cherry-picking the good comics for themselves.

These are different than the previous ones as the bags are a little loose so you can basically see the 5 books inside. Didn’t see any opened bag at my Ollies

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

This thread made me freak out at all the TPB's for sale.

We used to have Building 19 stores in my area (New Hampshire) but they went out of business years ago.

Over the weekend my wife and I took a trip to the closest Ollie's near me, about 40 miles away.

I found a bunch of stuff, but there wasn't as much selection as some of the photos posted eariler.

I spent about 40 bucks, grabbed a few JLA hardcovers and some Marvel titles. I can't imagine what I would have done if I had walked in and saw the amount of stuff that are in some of the earlier posted images. That's crazy.

I did pick up the first "complete collection" for the 2004 She Hulk, which I missed way back then. That was a great find for six bucks.

Thanks OP for making this thread!

I wish we had Ollie's out here.

I'm not aware of any stores here that sell TPB's and HC's like that (discounted overstock).

If you haven't already done it already, click on the link below and check to see if there is an Ollie's in your neck of the woods. They usually move quick into an abandoned store, so you might be surprise.
